got to whip the clocks out & remove a screw is the tidiest way.
the lazy way is to cut a wire into the ECU, but I prefer the safer option!

I went out last night when it hit about -1C after it'd misted & I think the council had been out gritting - properly lairy. I'd actually gone out to check tyre pressures & they were at 26psi (normal & optimum) so I think it's time the ageing tyres get replaced.
by properly lairy I mean exiting roundabouts at 45 degree's. funny at times, but not when you're not in the mood.
I'd been thinking about getting a winter car when it got too cold, but the excellent heater gets up to temperature in no time at all (to defrost the inside / roof)
I've even been having some roof down action too, though with a beany & a very high collar

Potentially, but a clutch is only £65 & tyres are £30+/corner (or a set of 15's with tyres for £300?)

underfloor bracing from the states is about £120
Suspension isn't cheap, that's like £400, but I can't find what I want just yet
Service items are cheap from mx5parts.co.uk, which is thankfully local. I think an oil filter is a couple of quid for instance.

Thats still a few pennys, id be tempted at new wheels aswell as tyres for that price, match them up with some nice suspension and ive heard they are pretty nimble in the twisties...
it's pretty good handling as std to be fair - certainly kicked the arse of a Megane 225 in the week with him only outdragging me up a hill (but to be fair he did have like double the power & torque)
I've not yet had any understeer, which probably explains the oversteer as I'm still half driving like FWD (lifting mid corner to tuck the nose in) which just drags the back round instead.
I am having some serious thoughts about putting a 1.8T in is - not the most sensible option, but at least I know the places to buy the bits. I just need to find an audi & get measuring sump to cam cover heights to see if it'll fit.

I have 'the' MX5 breaker 11miles from my house where I can pick up all sorts of spares (like a subframe) so I can play with that to mount the engine onto first.
There's a few workshops available round here, so I could rent one for a bit to do the work in as my driveway is a 30degree slope & the garage has been shortened to 2" less than the Eunos. ba stards.

Packaging looks a lot easier than the more common Lexus V8 / LS1/2 replacements. and the engine & parts far cheaper (ford GB's are like £50)
I was reading an article in a (can't remember which) magazine the other week about some reasonable priced uprated adjustable drop links for the MX-5 that are not massively expensive but supposedly transform the handling if you are doing the whole suspension deal.

Not a bad move, they were a bit more expensive than I remembered - thought it was £60 for all of them, not just a pair
Mx5 + hardtop + super heating = cosy
With the hard top on you really notice how much flex there is in the body, I would never of thought bracing was needed until I heard the moans and groans that come from the lid.
