I need to get a new MAF unit, for my 01 cupra. (£113 original)
Are there aftermarket ones available? or should I stick with the original Bosch unit?
This is the second one I've had in 2 years.

No, all standard.
Iv'e had the jeky performance problem, and had a new dump valve and MAF units\ coil packs etc (all standard). Car behaved itself for a while, but now playing up again.
Had it tested, and was told the MAF unit is faulty. Again!

I have just replaced mine (yesterday) and it was £75.20 from seat, i had to exchange my old one,i took a screw driver and swapped it at the dealers that way i did'nt need to pay the £20 surcharge. £113 is alot, is that a dealer price? i used seat in Derby. i also have a 01 cupra.:D

Yes, that is dealer price fitted.
Am I stuck with an original unit type?

How easy is it to replace, & more to the point, where the hell is it?

Cheers

you mite be able to get it cheaper if u get a mk4 golf one, as when i had my golf one changed it was around 64.95 from gsf on a exchange basic for a bosch maf, just need to match the engine code up

yea thats what i meant, but for some reason the golf ones are normally cheaper, as they try and sting you for having a SEAT, as its "not as popular" were as every1s got a golf, worth a try anyway

It'll be the same as the Seat one funnily enough as they share the same engine ;)
