Right, i want to make my leon quieter on the road, have changed the tyres but didnt really make that much difference.

My question is, if i was to sound proof the leon where would be the best place to start e.g. which part of the car allows the most noise to enter the cabin. when driving mine i dont know weather it is the front or the back that is loudest lol

has any one attempted this and did it work also any pointers

I would guess the doors are pretty thinly sound proofed but just guessing.

Did you have any luck with this mate? Ive been looking to do the same thing. Saw soundproofing matts on ebay you could probably cover your car for about 80 quid. Id image the best place to start would be to take up the carpet (is that possible??) and lay the sheets down underneath. maybe put a sheet in the door linings too.

I dont mind the engine sound in mine just hate the rough roads and noise!

but will also add weight , so will be a trade off , you wont get luxury car quiet unless you spend a lot of time and money , i would have a look at the door dissmantling guide first to see how much work is involved.

when i have dynmatted door skins you dont just do the outer skin , but inner and back of door cards.
will take time and a lot of patience

had the door cards off before when i changed rear door handles and the front looks very similar so thats not a problem.

Is the carpet glued down or just clipped at the edges? any one know

I'm having Koni FSD dampers fitted to my FR 170 on Tuesday...I'm hoping that they will transmit less noise and vibration to the passenger space. Don't know if they will have any impact on road noise though...have to wait and see.
