Milk!!!!

After driving home from Lincolnshire yesterday the milk i bought (forward planning because i knew i had none at home)....leaked all out over the boot carpet into the spare tyre well and smells lovely............anybody know how to get rid of the smell................so far bleach, disinfectant and lemon juice hasnt worked....is petrol and a match the only thing that will do it??

anybody any suggestions please

A solution of washing powder (or washing liquid dilutes better)

One which is biological as it will break down the enzymes which cause the nasty smell.

Be careful to test a small corner (somewhere out of sight) in case the dye from carpet runs... although this is unlikely.

Try the washing powder.. soak the affected area in the solution and if you have access to a vax or anything similar use that to remove it.

My mum split milk in her car it was there forever, well until she got rid of the car, so good luck !

Yes a carpet cleaning soloution is the key, soak the area scrub a little then run a vax over the top of it and job done,

There's no point crying over spilt milk or you'll get really cheesed off - although I do urn-derstand how you feel. When it happened to me I buttered up a plasterer friend of mine (who had more bottle than me) to use his tool to semi-skim the carpet - although he did end up with a milky float. Being the cream of his trade he avoided getting anything on his red top but he was somewhat churned up about the smell. I didn't want him to leave on a sour note so we left with a shake. He went on his milky way leaving me to ponder in my dairy...I mean diary...as to how it can be that the liquid secreted by female mammals for the nourishment of their young can be so bleeding rancid!!

Once spilt a whole bottle of 10-40W in my boot. Had to take the carpet out. Sold the car years later, missing one boot carpet. True story. Sorry I know it doesn't help.

we use a ensym(sp) based product called "oder gest" by a company called future developments(iirc).if it can neutralise the smell of sewage milk will not be a problem.
also use one called arua,smells of peardrops,mmmmm pear drops
