Are there any soundfiles or video clips of the Milltek Exhaust fitted onto a LCR?
I would like to mount a non-absorbed Version of the Milltek, but before I buy it, I would like to hear it!:)

that sounds very good songman, i will defo have that once my exhaust goes. does it sound better on your car than it would on a standard lcr though. and do you have any problems with poor fitment ie. does it rattle on anything.

I think it sounds better on Songmanscar because of the bigger turbo, on a standart LCR it will not sound that powerful!
But I think I will try the Milltek anyway, because if it´s to quiet i´m gonna install a bigger turbo!;-)

I perhaps should have said - this is the sound of a well thrashed Milltek system  !! - I don`t know how much `sound deadening` material remains in the back box after 30,000 miles of dyno runs/ acceleration runs/ top speed runs / as well as all the other `runs` - probably not much!

Stationary, at tickover, it is quite subdued in my opinion, but I have on occasions noticed some pedestrians stop and take a look[B)]
In normal daily running - about town/70 mph motorway etc - It is not too obtrusive externally - inside the car there is a slight increase in `boominess` but I am use to it now and don`t notice it
All in all during normal use it remains at an acceptable decibel level and never aspires to the extremes of SPL known as `Rampant Corsaboy`

When the true `mentalness` prevails:rolleyes: - well then, the Decibel scale is of rather less use than the Richter scale in determining the effect upon the environment external to the car - inside you don`t notice `cause you`re too busy concentrating on hanging on and trying to point the thing in roughly the right direction!!!

The setup is noiser for sure with the IHI than it was with the KO4 - the standard exhaust manifold and turbo are quite restrictive and that in itself cuts the sound level down at source - there`s a lot more gas going down the tubes with the IHI - also you don`t get any `poppin` on the overrun with the standard kit.

The fit of the system is fine if you `persevere` - I say that because I did initially have some trouble with vibration on the overrun - I had this too, with another aftermarket system fitted to my previous car

I understand that there are clearance problems with the pipe run over the back axle if you try to go too large in diameter - the Milltek system is 2.75ins which is fine

The main source of vibration was clearance around the back box/heatshield - courage and the application of a large tyre lever eventually solved the problem:censored:

I also have a VF Engineering `dogbone` mount fitted which reduces the fore/aft play of the engine block - this however is quite harsh and produces vibrations all of its own, so most folks will do better with just replacement/upgraded bushes in the standard VW mount.

One further point is to be aware of issues/fault codes with the second/post cat lambda probe, when engaging in changing exhausts and cats - it often being said that high flow cats will throw a fault code.

Hope this helps:)

Thanks for this detailed report!
Only one question: does the high flow cat influence the sound?
I ask because I only wanted to buy the cat back system without the high flow cat!

I don`t think the high flow cat will alter the sound very much - the system is quite quiet when new, and it need a few hard miles at best, to blow the stuffing out of it.
At that, it is still relatively refined with the standard KO4, even using the optional centre section without the resonator.

My original mods to the standard car were to have an ecu remap and fit a cat back Milltek system - that produced the most `bang per buck` - OK there`s more available from the standard setup but you pay a lot of money extra to extract not a lot more power - cats/downpipes/manifolds/intercoolers don`t come cheap - and anyway, the major barrier to big power is the standard turbo and manifold.:)

Love it! Like the honesty of a well thrashed system! Sounds real nice!
Are you still running the original gearbox?
Any idea what bhp/torque figures are?
(Sorry for the thread jack)

I think I´m going to install the cat back first, and when the sound doesn´t impresses me any more I will buy the high flow cat!

not sure on the exhuast but the turbo will be helping it sound that throaty i would say running over 340 bhp with a gt2371 i think

how does having a bigger turbo make it sound louder? and does it make much difference from the standard turbo in terms of noise not performance?

The R in the Video is fitted with a Stüber exhaust, it is a handmade, not resonated, cat back system with 3" diameter!

A GT2871R Turbo was fitted and it runs about 370 hp!
