What is the minimum front disc width?
I understand they are 28mm when new, what is the minimum before changing.

Ooh bugger - they looked pretty OK to me, just a bit of a lip, but best try and get hold of a micrometer. Or is there an easier way to measure them without one?

Edit: Just a thought, that's a small tolerance on thickness by the way. the new discs are 28mm, and new pads around 15mm per side, so that's total width between pistons of 58mm approx. Pads wear down to 2mm either side, which reduces space between pistons to 32mm, 30mm if discs are also worn a mm either side. New pads go in and the space increases greatly.

These discs always end up with a lip mate, dont worry micrometer is best for being accurate, and a dial gauge to check for warpage, easier to just replace em, they are a very consumble item om LCRSulli said:

In an ideal world i'd just renew them, however at £100 a side, unless quattroman sorts some cheaper ones from LEDA, i'm tempted to run it a few more months - they won't wear that quickly.

The thinner the disk gets, the noisier it gets!!
I ran my original disks way below 26mm - Bill, do you remember them?
When I sold my car, the replacements were even worse and extremely noisy!!
LCR's eat brakes, and oddly the rear pads have a longer life than the disk also!! At 26.46mm, you might as well put the money to one side ready to change them, but personally I wouldn't change them until you next do your pads...
Also, in terms of cost, why not ask Bill what he does them for these days?

I need pads really - there's still some friction material left, but not much, so intend to do them pretty soon. So I intended to do all at once, but the cost of discs puts me off really, till i desperately need them (as long as it's safe to do so).
I think i'll only do discs if quattroman can get the Galfer ones fairly soon at a decent cost, then i'll do discs and pads at same time.

My Leda contacts are at the Autosport show doing their suspension stand, as they have a pretty good reputation in that field for doing bespoke suspension set ups for track and rally and are well known thoughout the racing fraturnity.
They told me (after inviting me to the show, alas couldnt get the time off work)that the M.D. of Galfer Spain was going to be at the show today and that the standard LCR discs would be a top subject on their list to talk to him about.They are aware that there are alot of people on here who would buy these providing the price is good and if there is enough interest,then the discount would be large.
So any body who wants them, keep an eye out as they should be available soon, as they are now listed on the Spanish Galfer sites catalogue.
