Mirror covers

Hey does anyone know how to fit the aluminium mirror covers onto a mk4 ibiza? do you need to take anything off the original ones or jsut fit them directly onto the originals?

fold the mirror in and you will see part of the cover you dont normally see pull it out and the cover is held by four clips it pops off and new ones clip on i did this on my old 1.2 and replaced them with fr covers.

ah yeh thats what im doing. 4 clips.....not a long time to do it then?

Take only minutes to do, you do have to use a bit of force sometime's to seperate the cover's from the mirror housing. But not to much!! Dont break it!!

took me about 2 mins each and dint break anything might need a screwdriver to insert along the join to prise it open from top but nothing hard about it.

Go to Seat and ask for a pair of mirror covers (come primed afaik) and spray them yourself

Or if u aint a painter then take them to a good garage to get them done, whilst your there you could also get other bits colour coded, door mouldings etc, as the cost wont be much more, as its the mixing of the paint that cost the money!

probably do your door handles yeah as Sir Sparky said its the paint mixing costing the money so you may as well have everything done in one fell swoop

Well, id have alook around your area, ive found a good garage to do resprayes and body damage etc near me, and then another to do services and tuning (JBS!)

Id reccommend everyone has these near them

I just bought some for mine, I bought the mirror covers (primed) and the side strips for the doors, the whole lot including delivery came to just over £30.
That's from the SEAT dealers.

Paint cost me £20 from a local paint shop. Haven't painted yet though!

Job done

Just an addition, I changed my original black plastic mirrors to red ones i bought off Ebay.

I bought the mirrors on Wednesday, and they arrived this morning which was quick, but i did pay £7 postage, when the postage sticker on the box said £2.25!

It is quite an easy job, just for anyone else that needs anymore help I took some pictures, but the method the above posts describe is all you need. It took about 10 minutes.

First i folded the mirrors back, and from the section that was revealed started peeling it off. I used a thin bit of leather between the unit and the removable plastic section, inserted a thin metal thing to help jimmmy the plastic covers away from the unit.

I took the red covers and placed them where the originals used to be, and just pushed them so they clicked into place, and the result:

The total cost was £17.68 (Mirrors + P&P + Paypal fee), and they were actually advertised as Leon 2003 Mirror covers. I found taking the mirrors off orite, they take quite alot of force and pop out quite easily.

Only thing to be careful is when putting the new ones on, just line them up correctly. This is because on the new mirrrs there are long bits sticking out that to clip into the unit, if not aligned properly they will snap.

What do you all think? looks right?

I'll have mine back soon from being painted and I'll post some pics up. I've got the side rubbing strips as well.

My mirrors dont seem to fold so how do i put on the new mirrors? I got a 1.2 S but have read that people with this car have managed to do it....or am i just stupid? lol

The side rubbing kit, how are u planning to fit that? looks a lot harder than mirrors. did u buy them primed and ready for painting?

I had a 1.2 S courtesy car, and i swear the mirrors were exactly the same as my 1.4 S. Mk 4 ibiza u got?

I thought they did, how hard have u pushed ewhen trying to close them?!
