Misfire Sum Counter VCDS

Hi guys,

I was having a look through the VCDS measuring blocks and I clicked upon cylinder miss fire sum counter, and it was giving me a reading of up to 24 misfires just on idle! It was mainly from cylinder no.1, I replaced my spark plugs on Saturday and also have inserted a new coil in cylinder one yet am still getting a high reading on the misfire counter..

Any ideas?

Is it possible the spark plugs weren't gapped properly? May be worth checking.

The spark plugs come pre gapped, they're the NGK Iridium X's

I'd still be inclined to check them anyway just to be certain they were in spec.

Failing that and the coils being healthy, I'm at a loss. Lots of others on here with far more mechanical knowledge than me, have to see what they say

Yeah I'll have to get a tool and check them, the only thing that springs to mind is perhaps a faulty injector?

Does seem high, at idle i get maybe 2 or 3 in a minute. Injector spray pattern, build up on the valves etc.

Do you have any issues or just something you found with VCDS?

I would try moving the coil packs and see if the misfire follows
