mk1 cupra r vs mk2 cupra

I have read, that the bigger single pot calliper with bigger disc on the cupra s3 is better than the brembo's on the LCR....
 
I thought that re the brakes, and clamping force, its down to the size of the pistons and workig out the coverage and then comparing the two to see which has more ?

Car wise - waiting for the R version to come along as the Cupra is just too understated imo.

Dealer uttered something about they reckon it would be sometime next year - hope they were right or may be its wishfull thinking on their part. Wil wait and see though.

FR and Cupra looking the same - yep, its only the spangly silver mirrors on the FR that really sets it apart form first impressions.
 
Lots of people seem to be saying that they're waiting for the 'R' version - SEAT have dropped the R range.

The FR is the 'new' Cupra

The Cupra is the 'new' Cupra R

I thought this was common knowledge?
 
Oh man.. are people STILL confused about the whole Cupra and Cupra R thing?

The Cupra name was derived from Cup Racing... i.e. trophy racing, right? And the R in Cupra R stands for Race.. so that'd be a Cup Race Race. GREAT. It never made sense to begin with..

Cupra = FR
Cupra R = Cupra.

i think that not having a R at the end of cupra is good as the cupra r mk1 cast a big shadow over the cupra mk1.
What was when lauched as a hot hatch the leon cupra mk1 was the big dog, every one looked at the cupra as a quick car, but as soon as that quicker TT engine went in and that r badge was added and a lot of people looked down at the cupra mk1 pushing it aside for the new toy.
At least with just having the FR as a sporty model and the cupra as the flag ship car. the name branding (CUPRA) will not give any confusion to what it is. you will just know its a fast car.

Ok it could look beter but i think it will age well. as the LCR don't stand out as much now, due to all the other producers catching up with good styling.

But i think the greatist shame is that SEAT don't produce any more a hot looking salon cars. why is this?

Mk 2 Cupra does seem to put power down better than LCR,not sure why this is though as the one i test drove had pirrelli rosso tyres on which when fitted on my LCR were **** at putting down power,even when up and running they struggled,must be something to do with suspension on new cupra,maybe stiffer springs stopping rear end squat or something.
 
did you swap cars and get the same result? because if not, 1 run with different drivers doesnt really prove anything!
