Can anyone tell me what's been done here? One Vac hose goes to nothing...

Took it for a proper drive today as the weather was really good! It was ALOT of fun!!

Now I need to fit the solid engine mounts, top mount the shifter and decide on what turbo to fit!!

Happy with the progress so far

Away with work again this week, although hoping to get back for tomorrow so I can carry on fitting parts I have laying around!

Is anyone interested in a drivers side OMP subframe? I have an extra one....

Nice work - will be following.

This is the kind of thing I would like to do as well. Think the ibiza cupra would make a great track toy

Thanks dude! It just takes time and practice. The key is getting things set up correctly.

Removed some more bits today.. Firstly I lost almost 4kg of weight from removing the rear arches and all the mud and crap that dropped out!! Maybe this has been a rally car haha!!

Next I removed the SAI pump and old engine mounts which where replaced by my solid ones!

So... Progress has slowed up a little of late.

Ordered some more parts - Powerflex Black series top mounts for the rear & Rear ARB brackets from Bill.

Plenty more to do still but been enjoying driving it really! Will be booking its first track day in the next couple of weeks but got some work trips coming up.. One to the Nurburgring so tempted to take the car out there with me!!

Does anyone know where i can get a solid gearbox mount from? Also what top mounts are people using!? Ideally want solid ones....???

As the weather was so nice over the bank holiday weekend I thought it would rude not to do some bits on the car!!

First job was to top mount the shifter

I found what I expected too as the car has a 3" exhaust fitted.. Plenty of melted rubber!

6eca574d3676f7c656020ffa5dc786f9.jpg

Stripped the melted bits off as no longer needed

Cleaned and painted the shifter

Then fitted it and drilled the holes in the bulk head for the cables

Job done!

Then my Powerflex black race rear top mounts arrived so I removed the rear damper which looked really really bad although they're working really well still so stripped them down, cleaned and gave them a refurb

Before

9b68188391260023ccca922087a71c0c.jpg

After

c1e94314117d12f678b91cfc309ca1d8.jpg

I then run into a slight problem as the Powerflex Black bushes seem to required a different size sleeve as the fit was like a p***k in a bucket.. So I popped down to my local engineering guys who are making up two new sleeves for me.. These should be ready later today

After that I was bored, so started to remove the turbo to replace it with one of my others I have in the garage.. Although I spotted a bell housing bolt had fallen out!!

03591533632ef02f5d081d5a4e14dee9.jpg

I can only guess it's from the extra vibration caused by the solid engine mounts. Time to loctite them all!

Anyway.. More updates to follow.

Still looking for some front solid top mounts.

Oh and I bit the bullet and ordered a new car yesterday too..

Seat Leon TDi SE in this colour

Thanks dude!.. What cutting needs doing?

Got the rears sorted today now the sleeves have been machined.

Old sleeves vs new

Dampers refitted

1de0a6ad83f4ec15ffdfd15f3414eb72.jpg

Then I finished removing the old turbo... What a PAIN! Usually jobs like this are pretty easy for me but this was a pain. Snapped bolts, rusted and seriously tight bolts!! Hardest part was getting the downpipe off..

I went to start fitting the new turbo but then spotted this..

3e40fb94a5c0e0ab20daab67068daef0.jpg

:-( will get that drilled that out tomorrow.. What a bitch!

So as I couldn't do anything I heat wrapped the downpipe.

Not much more to do now.. Although I keep thinking about other bits I could do while its in bits again.

Also brought some rear ARB brackets off Bill for my 28mm H&R ARB although they don't seem to fit.. Do I still need the little rose joint drop links to fit these also!?

nice one Dean.. As I thought!

Will pick up some rose joints when I'm back in the UK.

I'm pretty sure it's 3" ... although you've got me questioning now. I'll check it when I'm back!
