I've a Leon FR on order, so this is probably a dumb time to ask the question, but...

What's the paint like on these cars in terms of durability?

I know they'll be using a water based paint so it won't be as durable as the old lead based paints. But I'm wondering what peoples impressions are so far?

PS, I ordered flat white hoping it'd be easy to touch up.

I can't imagine it's any different than any other VW paint. Hard, thick lacquer, rife with orange peel.

White is an absolute pain to detail.
You can't see where you've applied wax!!
Needs to be done in a perfectly lit enclosed space to make it easily visible.

It's got to be better than my current car with pearlescent white paint. It's a four stage job so Mazda don't sell a touch-up kit which is a complete bugger considering how easily the paint chips...

Is it possible to say or think that metallic paints are more durable than the normal paints?

Surely the paint will be exactly the same as any Seat, all makes stopped using cellulose etc back in the 80's its been all water based the the early 90's.

I bought flat white and the finish is fine. No orange peel. Wish the sills were black, it annoying that the door drains leave marks when when it rains.

Had a Polo in the mid 90's that was built in Spain, paint was crap compared to a German built Golf of the same age.
