MK4 owners - Strut braces

Can someone with a 130 Sport take a pic of the brace fitted, and maybe a close up of the Offside fixing point. Tom £38 was that for the Momo one?

Just booked mine in at my local SEAT dealer to have the SEAT Sport one fitted - 80 quid all in. I suppose I could it myself but I'd rather they took responsability.

BTW, some thread on here mentioned a special offer on OZ 17" wheels and SEAT Sport suspension kit. I asked at my dealer and they said it was only applicable to MK3 Ibiza and the Leon. :(

SBF, the £38 I paid was because MK had it on special offer. I think there was only one there, so I snapped it up. My one is a Momo one, but it doesn't state it anywhere.

Jacknelle, that OZ offer is an MK SEAT offer...speak to Tim Wood (I would mention Martyn's user name but it's not easily remembered) on the Parts forum and he'll be able to help if you are interested.

Thanks toXXin. Its all very tempting, but my girlfriend is about to drop any day and I'm not sure she'd take too kindly to me spending over a grand on wheels and shocks, especially since I was Revo'd only 2 weeks ago! The strut brace will suffice for now ;)

Would the 17" OZs improve the aesthetics of the rear track width, especially as I'm can't seem to locate any spacers for the Mk4?

Get Rage to second what I've said - it makes an enormous difference in a MK4

EAK!
Kinda makes you wonder about the MK4 platform if it twists that much as to feel like body roll.

Blimey!

On a stiff shell, the reduction in roll gains would be neglegable if at all. Shocking the MK4 shell woudl seem as compliant as it is.

Oh well.
If you feel it, its doing something, but a strut brace is'nt a suspension item per-say.

I dont think its that bad Bill, I have coilovers with rebound adjustment, and the brace its nice. tight as a nuns now, they also do a lower brace, may make it tighter still

dont like the way people are running 180 BHP on the standard setup though.

Need to find somewhere in essex to setup the suspension properly, if anyone knows somewhere. may go to Leda.

So Golf IV ones would fit? Theres been a lot of posts on here about spacers but no definitive statement wrto the Mk4 Ibiza. In terms of width I'd want to be able to push the standard alloys out enough to improve the visuals from behind. Are the Eibach ones hub-centric?

Just checked the FK Automotive catalogue for you and they sell hubcentric 5x100 in a variety of widths. I'm sure Bill can get his hands on some others for you if you want to buy from him.

I know the spacers help the Mk3's stability at speed, but does this also work for the Mk4, or are they purely for cosmetic use. Also, do they not upset the camber of the wheels, as they are being pushed out a bit, so therefore wearing down the inside edge of the tyre???

Steve:confused:

If Ibiza4 rear track is thinner than the front then the same benefit may be had as for the Ibiza3.

As for camber, is the rear adjustable? I don't suppose the rears run much if any negative camber.

Eibach 15mm ones and larger are hubcentric yes.

I have never measured the front vs rear track width on the MKIV, so if someone could confirm these dimensions it would give a clue as to the potential benefits, other than cosmetic, they might add.

On MK3's the track is 35mm narrower on the rear, and is skittish and nervous at the rear, especially over undulating roads and braking.

the MK4 should have been a better platform?

Camber on mk mk3 ibiza is -ve 1 degree with 15mm spacers. they are non adjustable without fitting shims behind the stub axle.
