MKII - OBD1 or OBD2

We have a new toy at work that is compatible with OBD2 diagnostic ports

I'm not sure what the Ibiza MKII has, there's conflicting info on the web and with staff here

Any info would be great

OBD2 for 96 and newer

90 - 95 was the OBD1 I believe

I'm looking for a cable myself at the mo.

Not all generic obd2 toys work great, the one the AA use couldn't connect to my motor.

Hmmm interesting, thanks for the info!

The actual plug on this toy we have fits but it won't connect to the ECU. Shame, it's a great little scan guage!

to use it you usually have to have the key turned in the ignition

Dont know whether youve tried it but worth a go if not (VAG-COM ANYWAY IS LIKE THAT)

Yeah tried the lot, key in, key turned.. engine running etc etc.

Tis a bugger, this guage has so many functions and it would make it easier for me to sell if I had one in the car for meets etc. Never mind!

Just got my "new" toy. A 1.4AEX Ibiza 1996. I have Vag-Com. Is there anyway I can check if the miles are correct on the dash? I've tried but all I can do is to read the faultcoed srom the engine and immobolizer
