Sorry to post a probably stupid question, read above and I think Scott-o mentioned HID'S, are they A fail on mots? As I never really looked into that when I put them on lmao

Thanks

The MOT test info website page for wheels / tyres (see here) states in the first line that...

"Spare tyres are not included in the inspection. However, if a defect is seen, the vehicle presenter should be notified. "

If your vehicle fails for a spare tyre which has been tested then appeal it.

Headlamp aim and beam pattern are checked, light emitted colour is checked, the headlights must not flicker or dim when other lights or horn are used, condition and security of headlamps are checked. There's no current fail for having HIDs fitted if they pass the test.

Sorry mate. As it stands at the moment an airbag light is not a fail.

Relieved. There's nothing wrong with my airbag, I tripped the light when doing some other work to the car. The only bother with it is that once it goes on, you need VAG COM to switch it off.

is an abs light on a fail then? as abs isnt compulsary, its just another safety device. with the light on it just acts like it has normal 'old skool' brakes. & also as for the spare wheel, in the last 4 years ive never seen the mot tester go in the boot let alone check the spare, just the 4 on the axles. (he'd have a job getting to spare anyway as sub is in way hahaha

AFAIK ABS is required by law on cars since something like 2002 by the European Union, that's why it's a fail.

ABS light illuminated is a fail.

Reason for fail is if the warning lamp is missing, does not illuminate, does not follow the correct sequence of operation, or indicates an ABS fault.

ABS differs from airbags insofar as ABS has a possibility of being used every time the driver brakes. Airbags are a one shot use in the event of an accident.
