Finished work last night to find my car like this.
No note and now I have to foot the bill.

Obviously a tipper van, flatbed, or tail lift van with a high back end has attempted to park on top of my car.
At least it only seems to be the bonnet that has been damaged.

Don't think T-cut will quite cut it

Omg I feel so sorry for you. I would of gone mad. I would of been more upset at that than I was tonight when getting to the front of the queue at KFC and the cashier saying they have run out of food! Sorry went completely off topic there. (Still annoyed)

That's brutal! I feel for you. Does your work have CCTV nearby that you could track a vehicle on? You must be raging

What a ******. You must be raging.
How frustrating is that! My previous Leon received more damage from the work car park than anywhere else. With the help of our security guards I managed to track one guy down and get him to pay for the repairs. It almost put put me off buying another nice car! Although I've just bought a year old Leon FR 150 man which is spotless, I'm so paranoid where I park now though. I think we are well short of tarmac in this country, to many NIMBYS!

I'm not sure about that myself. I'd say the parking available in most places in adequate. It's just that we have a large surplus of feckin eejits, with whom we have to sure that tarmac!

Hope the damage is not too bad Six, with a bit of luck it'll just be the one panel. I don't know how people can just drive off after that.

I know where you are coming from, but cars are getting wider and parking spaces narrower. I always try to park on the end of a row. I'm getting paranoid lol!

Very true pal. It's a bit like how everyone loves to berate the 4x4 owners for taking two spaces, while totally ignoring the fact that a Range Rover literally will not fit in one space.

It all comes to money at the end of the day. As it always does! More spaces = more money.

You would be amazed, some people seem to take the fact that they are called bumpers literally.
Some old duffers - and it's often old duffers - will bump off the car in front and behind getting in and out of a parallel parking spaces and don't see they are doing anything wrongly [:@]
One silly old cow who bumped me in a garage and damaged my car even told me "no harm done" as apparently her cars handbook said " it's ok as long as it's at no more than 5mph" and that's why she wasn't going to give me her details

Anyway hope the op manages to catch the culprit, if you do find out who it is 100% - as there must of been paint transfer- you could always go knock for knock, if you know what I mean :D

Cheers guys,

Well was not very happy when I saw it the other night but what can you do.
I park in a side road, so a regular parking space near my friends house.

I asked his neighbor if he could have a look through his cctv as it goes across his drive and points in the general direction to where I was parked.

Well it's picked up the only van parking near my car the whole day.
It does not show my car or the impact.
It shows the van pulling in in front of my car, then reverses and stops sharply with the front of the van going down as if it has been stopped by something. Not general braking otherwise the front of the vans nose would have lifted.

The driver pulls forward a few feet, gets out and walks to the back of the van with drivers door left open, then a few seconds later, jumps back in and drives off.
99% sure this is the guy.

I have a company name, mob number and vehicle registration that I will be passing on the my insurer in the morning so hopefully they can do the rest :)

I took the car in this morning to get the work done through the insurance so hopefully this guy will own up to the damage caused.

ps, I have a Blackvue dash cam, but it's not wired in to activate if someone hits the car as I prefer to take it out when not driving, wish I had now though

So it sounds like you've caught the guy from the company name on the side of the van, plus mobile number, and that the CCTV was even good enough to read the number plate!

Feels so good to read through this thread to get to the bottom and learn that justice is coming!

I really hope they own up and don't try to fight it, like all insurance companies try to do.

Maybe , with all those details, a witness will come forward. Might be worth asking all your neighbours. Good luck.

Christ, that's horrific.

The good news though is that it's just the bonnet - easily replaced.

Hope you catch the scum.

I asked a few residents, and will be trying some more in the next few days.
This guy is local as there is another van up the road from where it happened which is the same company.

Hopefully they will do the right thing and just own up to it but I will pursue it till the end :)
And yes just the bonnet I think and waiting to hear back from the repairers now to know for sure but can't see any other damage, maybe the bonnet catch and hinges might have got a little bent but that should be it hopefully :)

Looks exactly like my MK3 and I've had someone bash the wing mirror in and drive off quick and that pissed me off massively. But this would anger me even more, I feel your frustration.

Have you reported it to the police? It's technically criminal damage by not reporting it themselves and leaving the scene of an accident. Give them the video proof you obtained from the neighbour.
