Hi im looking to buy a LCR 225 (was looking for a fr to start with hence the name) and im just trying to work out if i can afford to run one

what kind of miles per gallon do you guys get from your cars? Parkers say 32 which is only 6 less than my current car a fiesta st, i guess economy isn't really all that important to me as i don't use the car during the week but i like to do my homework first

also what is considered to be high mileage on these engines? the one im looking at is a 2004 with 72k  which seems a bit high for the year to me, and what are the main things to look for when buying a LCR?

apologies for all the questions

Cheers
Richie

I get anything from 18-19mpg around town to 35+ on a long journey. A service history is a must and is much more important than mileage.

The main thing to look out for is water in the footwells.........the door seals are prone to leak, so just check this out.

Have a look in the Mk1 section and you will find the answer to most of your questions.

Get one! You won't regret it!!

Really!! thats brilliant cos i get 22mpg around town and i can get get anything up to 42 on a long jorney but i usually hover around 27mpg and my st only has 170bhp and no torque lol

the leon has FSH btw

i will go and do some more browsing thank you

im getting around 330-360 miles to a tankfull, although its not a cupra r its the 180 bhp 1.8t, which is 20-50 miles extra compared to my old astra 1.4 auto but the leons tank is only 3 litres bigger! so i would say for the performance they are quite economical, that includes mostly sensible driving with a bit of 'no your vtr isn't as quick as you thought' action!!
mileage wise, well mines done 138000 miles with full seat service history and runs as sweet as a nut and is in good condition not even kerbing on the alloys, so as long as you get one thats been well looked after you should have very little to worry about[B)]

now that i've got my lcr mapped i've been looking at the MPG a wee bit it say on average im getting 26.5 but i 0 the clock with 3/4 or a tank and got 223.5 miles and that was around town and on the motorway hope this helps[B)]

thanks for the replies guys, fuel efficiency certainly doesn't seem like it will be a problem.

my insurance company want £107 to change my insurance from my lightly modded st (grp 13) to the LCR (grp 17) so thats not bad either seeing as the leon is a FAR superior car

gb, where did you get your remap done? and do you know what power you are putting out with the mods in your sig

42mpg is pretty amazing in a 225bhp car tbh, were you driving like a nun by any chance? lol

Yup, drive like a nun you will get 42 MPG (its not easy BTW) but possible. Driving like a nun is a good alternative to having to drive a slow assed car to be able to afford the petrol

Knocking about, school run etc I get about 24mpg. Going to work, about 20 miles each way with some empty country back roads I get 27-28mpg. Once on a 100 mile trip up the A1, through the mandatory road works and following the 'Crap Drivers Guild of Great Britain/Caravan Club' I once got a whopping 35mpg.

well according to parkers (which i think is crap) the MPG is better then a civic type R by 1 mpg.

Had the TT for the night and i ragged it down to a mates house for a bit of show and shine ;)

but it did about 17mpg there so i was like  so i thought id try and see what i could get on the way back.

42. something was th answer. :funk:

mostly bang on 56mph with the cruise control.

as has been said its all very dependent on how heavy your right foot is.

i normally average around 30 whereas my last car was doing 50 plus, but i dont regret it for a second.

if you havent test driven an LCR already then do so, that will make your mind up! ;)

Is that 30 around town etc

Omg im doing about 200-230 miles per tank :(.

Is there anything that i should check that could be causing this? I dont really drive like maniac (most of the time at least).
