If I'm perfectly honest I don't know what the solution was as there was a few things I did at once.
I was sent another file of mpps (16.0.1.8), along with running administration and win7 compatible I got it to work.
It's slow to start, mpps flashes on and off once or twice and the "read new" still shows problem but then mpps opens and works without problem.
I have used mpps this morning (ecu ID, read ecu, write ecu) and it has done the job without fault. (Reflashed factory map)
I have bought a "ThinkPad" running Windows XP as I'm still a little uncertain about the screen flashing and the "problem" still being displayed despite it opening.
