Bored at work ... So thought I'd update..

I forgot to mention, I've got a diesel geek short shifter, fitted about 2 weeks into owning my R, it went from stiring porridge to amazing! I'd highly recommend buying one.

Also late last year I was off work for two month due to a raptured appendix, so I decided to learn all about car polishes and waxes, after ordering a lot of raw (expensive) materials I finally baked cured and made my own polish and wax, I based the ingredients and process on some of my favourite auto glym & G3 products.. Here was the results...

I enjoyed the process but not sure if it was worth the time and money!! Lol although it beaded for longer than anything I have used!

Looks bloody lovely, my girlfriends mk5 ibiza fr is the same colour and ive not got round to attacking ii with the da yet but i know it will come up lovely once i have.
How is the engine mount holding out are you still using it gentle or have you given it some abuse yet?

Thank you! Yeah it's just crazy how long it takes to really clean a car!

At the moment I still running the standard engine mount, I need to refit the 034 one now I have received the replacement but that have to wait till the weekend... Hard/busy week at work this week...

Joys!! Lol

What a manic day! On my drive to the station this morning, picked up a friend, jumped on the train and left him to drop my car down to seat..
09:30 till 13:00 railway briefing (ALO - for any rail buddies!)
13:00 till 15:30 site kick off meetings!
Then tried to catch up with my emails after... Causing me to miss my designated train which would've got me back to my seat in time! So... Phone the dealers payed over the phone then got a friend to pick up my car... Whilst it was in the workshop I had the oil, oil filter and pollen filter done. Then kindly they looked into a new knock that has formed...they have traced it down to the 034 pendulum mount, the rose joint that connects the mounts together from the subframe arm to the part that connects to the gearbox is getting grime and debris inside it, causing it to vibrate sending a knock up to the subframe into the cabin... Brilliant.. Another crap 034 product.

On the plus side... They fixed my loose headlamp! Also the parts man order me a AWD part! Hopefully it's correct, it's for the centre tunnel it's the bracket that holds the prop..

Second one shall now be ordered and all for under £10.00!

Then my parts man (Nathan) prices up every bolt from the front subframe to the rear, so when looking on etka I have prices and when I rebuild the rear subframe I can install new bolts.. But Jesus.. The price!!

So maybe I shal be careful as to what bolts i throw away!!

Anyway moving on... Today the dealers also reprogrammed my R key that I bought from them many moons ago! Finally two decent keys and one crap one! Also it's the only place I could find the R badge... With a hefty price though!

As the weather is good, maybe this week i will refit the 034 engine mount... But what to do about the pendulum.....

Creaking from the rose joint they say... Well seat do.. So maybe some wd40 to clear it out and see if the creak/knock is gone seems a good test.... ?

It soon adds up with new nuts, bolts and washers, I did it on my Audi S2 when I replaced all the bushes I replaced all the hardwear too. The tunnel brackets aren't a bad price. I just sold my Brembo handbrake calipers the other month and they were brand new, wish I'd a out them on eBay now if rough ones go for that price. I let mine go for £330.(gutted)

Yeah it's crazy, but worth it in my eyes if you can do most of them. I was surprised with the tunnel brackets too, crazy you can order them lol, to be fair it's the only set I've seen on there my max prices was 330, with £20 delivery! It was a crazy price in my eyes but someone paid I guess! Lol

It's nothing big but.. My passengers love putting keys in the door card causing terrible rattles and a headache for me! So here we are, that should solve that, also it holds a iPhone 5... Not a six so I'm going to look for bigger one!

For info I got it off eBay for under a fiver!

And tonight ladies & gentlemen, I shall be performing a engine mount change for the third time in just over a month.. lol... More to follow later...

New 034 engine mount fitted... Let's see how this goes! (Took me 30 minutes if that! Like clockwork lol)... Talking of clockwork,.. Small fiddly jobs.. I removed my Soundaktor.. The difference is immense!! You know when booting it, and your engine sounds like a fighter jet, well that's NOT your engine! It's the Soundaktor... I'm not 100% if I like it removed, but... Being a tad bit of a purist.. I want to hear my car not a electronic aid... Remember when the electronic dump valves, synthetic car noises first came out from halfrauds and eBay., we all laughed and took the right Michael, well it's the same principle! And needed to be addressed. I completely removed the unit, and there's no going back! It's amazing how quiet our cars engine is my friend said now he doesn't even know when im flooring it, other than the new exhaust note and induction noise! But honestly it's a dramatic change!

Guess what? The 034 gearbox mount has now failed... Time to do some roadside repairs.. Guess the Sunday roast is off..

That's a joke, not been funny but you're not over tightening them are you? I'll get you torque settings if you need them?

I'd be really pi$$ed if that happened to me.

Im actually shocked that failed again on you.
Sorry to see it too but at least from what you have said there was no other damage.

No damage, I've been driving sensibly because they have been in the back of my mind.. thank you though

Yeah, quite a big joke, but honestly I tightened them up to these specs.. (Religiously too)

my parts advisor printed something off for me of the similar above.

It's also worth noting, my standard ones don't break, and I've had to revert back to them a couple of times...

Just goes to show that 034 are still living up to the shoddy quality, what will you be replacing them with?

Yeah, just google 034 and the story unfolds full of complaints and failed items... Previously I had a full Vibra technic mount kit but it vibrated soooo much... But it was a TDI, I'd like to find a good balance of comfort/ upgrade, I know this seems impossible but.. I'm thinking... Buying all new OEM mounts then filling them with something... Hmm...

Also...

If we recap on where they have failed, it's not all near the bolts... So over tightening isn't the immediate area of concern..
