Im thinking I might end up having to move up to 16s Dan.. its getting to the stage of speedbump hell around here and theres no-go areas even trying to get on to my estate!.. If I go up to 16's i could even (in theory) drp the car a tad more to sit the rims better in the arches ;)

any updates on this? is there a rod change box that'll cope with the vr grunt? seriously thinking about doing this to my 2l 8v. will the 2l outer cv's fit on the vr6 shafts? has anyone gone into detail on the wiring side of things? used the search for the last week and cant seem to find the answers.

you have a 2L 8V?

if so, this has a rod-change box (020-type) and I dont think it would be up to it

If you are contemplating a Vr6 transplant, get the car......and transplant in basically the whole front subframe with engine/box/shafts/axles, brakes etc

sorry if im missing something, but with above set up didnt someone say the shafts are too long causing excessive inner cv wear? also i take it people use the vr6 front struts too? just the brakes will then be 5 stud?? will the vr6 rear hubs/discs go on too? as in undo the big nut pull discs and bearings out and just replace them with the vr6 stuff? cheers

all of the VR6 stuff is different to ibiza 8v or 16V - the hubs, the hub bearing carriers, the struts, the steering arms, the wishbones, the driveshafts, the arbs, the brakes....everything

you have to really know what you are doing to mix and match components

the best/easiest way by far is to transplant in the whole lot, everything on the front subframe including steering, front struts, hubs, brakes, everything

you will end up with 5 stud hubs - this can be sorted out, but it would be cheaper for you to buy some 5 stud wheels

the rear hubs can be swapped directly for 5-stud VR6 - simply swap the whole stub axle over with hubs, brakes, calipers etc

this is why the way to do this, is to buy a VR6 complete, use everything you can, then sell what you dont use.

even use the VR6 wheels.....
