Don't get me wrong, shims are not unsafe, but it will never handle or track properly like it would with a new rear beam. Shims could probably make it better, but like i mentioned before, with tyres at £100 a pop, it could be an expensive long term decission to get it bodged up could cost you a fortune over a year or two. On the plus side, my ibiza which used to drive up the road like a crap (sideways) now drives perfectly.

Cool im gonna start sourcing a rear beam and get someone to fit it. Out of curiousity if you dont mind what happened to your car needing a new rear beam?

Yeah, i meant crab... long day

My ibiza was a write off which i bought so i can get rid of LCR to have a few years cheap motoring. Actually it used to belong to someone off SCN... Richard Grant from Glasgow? Would be interesting to see what it was written off for?

It's had a new ECU, 2 new wishbones, new slam panel and lights, new radiator and rear beam. Just getting some quotes for some bodywork to be done. Anyone know anywhere in or near Manchester that does spray work for *cough* cash?

Should be driving it in the next week or so. It's taken about a month to get it to a point where it's been VIC checked and MOT'd.

rear axle on a beezer is dead easy and a novice is more than caperble hope you get it sorted soon poverty

Thanks, was gonna see if I could get the rear beam of the smashed up beeza down the road but it seems like sometime yesterday hes finally managed to get rid of it or just had enough of it sitting outside his house, just as I needed him

Hopefully I will see the guy tomorrow and ask him if its at a scrappy somewhere!

a new ECU?
how did that get damaged in an accident?

I'm not sure air... i have a couple of theories.
First one is the car got stolen and stripped of it when they crashed it.
Second is that a car dealer took it to get another car working.
Third is Richard Grant took it off the car when he handed it over to the insurance company to sell as it was probably chipped. The car's had some money spent on it in it's short life.. K&W springs and coilovers etc.
The ECU was an arse to sort out, but thanks to a very clever bloke on here, it's now running like a dream.
