hi everyone
ive a leon tdi fr on a 55 plate 31k on the clock and well looked after. ive had a revo chip fitted but it now blows out black smoke when i accelerate hard (which is most of the time) and its getting embarrasing the looks i get from the lads makes me want to strangle them lol
please would love some help or advice
Thanks xx

What kind of chip was it, do you mean a remap? What stage did they carry out on it?

Sounds like its overfuelling, the black smoke is from unburnt fuel!

try cleaning or even disconnecting the EGR system,
stopped mine smoking on hard acceleration!

Be very suprised if either of the suggestions worked.
Sounds more like a poor map or a boost leak.
Get the boost hoses checked for poor connections.

mine soots a lot though and mine does not have a leak!!all remapped diesels put out a bit of smoke!!unless its crazy amounts then there must be a leak

The ECU has a smoke map which limits fuel injection quantities at max power demand to avoid the production of black smoke, which is visually offensive (although not a significant pollutant - the invisible micro-particulate smoke produced by poorly managed combusion is much worse). In other words, power output is limited by the desire (legally enforced in some places) to avoid the visible emission of smoke under clog-down conditions. One of the ways a remap improves performance is to push the smoke limit up, tolerating more smoke because although the fuel is not being burned efficiently, it is still producing more power. However there is only so far you can go with this.

My 04 fabia vrs hardly smokes at all, even when booting it.

Thats with:

EGR vaccum pipe removed disabling egr
CCV Bypass catch can
Performance air filter, pd160 intake and flap removed
Decat
Digital tuning box on 6/7 setting (7 being most fuel)

I got my Leon remapped 2 months ago and hardly smokes - but I must admit I do boot it quite often as it is wicked fast thru the gears now :D

I've noticed that mine is starting to smoke a bit more now, I just put it down to the warmer air as it seems to do it more in the afternoons than it does in the mornings.

When I was running a stage one remap, mine didnt smoke. As in a small wispa off smoke, then nothing.. infact mine with a remap smoked less than a few guys diesel's without remaps on.

However im not running a stage two map, and it smokes... ALOT.

A smokey map is a bad map but back on topic. The lady has had a revo stage 1 map by sounds of things so shouldn`t be smokey because of the map. I agree with glynnd more likely with the extra boost from the map a pipe clip has slipped what with them being a crap design causing a boost leak.

Revo don't make a chip do they? they remap. On my stock revo I didn't get any smoke. Not running stock code anymore but still no smoke at all.
