N249 bypass, a bit of help please

going back to basics
after doing a search on doing the N249 bypass all i can find is photos of a Leon cupra r or an Ibiza 1.8t although it may be roughly the same it's dropped my confidence in doing mine as i'm not very mechanicaly minded although small things i can achieve. my car is the 180bhp Leon sport with an APP engine code. Has anyone got any links to or have any photos on how to go about this on mine and what size hoses do i need???

my understanding is that the 249 valve is controlled by the ecu and releases the pressure from the turbo via the dump/recirc valve to stop too much pressure.

its for safety but not required. instead i have a 5mm hose from to top of dv to a little opening on the under side of the inlet manifold. i think anyway i only watched it get done.

It removes the ability of the ecu to open the dump valve to bleed off boost. This is all then done by the n75 as it is in most turbo cars. Throttle response is better and dump reaction is much quicker regardless of what DV you have fitted.

Check the progress thread on my signature for photos and a guide on how to do it on an LC.

have you ever thought your car feels quick wen it comes on boost at about 3k revs then doesnt pull as much at higher revs? well i think its coz the 249 valve releases some of the preesure, having it bypassed means your turbo can boost harder for longer and car pulls more through the rev range.

Down personnal pref how you do it but I T'ed into the feed pipe for the N249 then ran this to the DV and plugged the old pipe which previously fed the DV.
Tried removing it all also and running a direct feed from the underisde of inlet to DV and found car wasn't as happy or eager to drive.

Oh and check hoses around N249 as very prone to splitting especially on the Y joint.

first of all thanks cupra ross the pics were helpful (sort of) i was just about to go and get the stuff to do it then i found this, see post #9http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=75203&highlight=app+engine+code
i'm sure, mine being APP engine code, is cable throttle but it still has a vac res on top of the right hand side of the engine, above coil pack 4 i think, i am now back to square one and at a blank:confused::blink::banghead2
i thought all 1.8t's had the N249??
can someone please get me out of this circular room as i can't find the corners!!!!

post up a pic of the top of your engine in the location where the n249 would normally be :)

In the case of the Leon Cupra, the N249 solenoid is located under the black metal vac hose carrier assembly that your dipstick sticks through. You need to remove the small plastic cover that goes round the front and right/front of the engine.

APP is not cable throttle, it is Drive By Wire the same as any other Leon Cupra. As far as I know its exactly the same arrangement as my photos. The only differences between APP and AUQ are the turbo and APP doesn't have Variable Valve Timing.

please feel free to do drawings on my pics to show what gets binned, what gets blocked, what gets re-hosed and what gets left alone
many thanks for your help and patience with my lack of mechanical knowledge:blink::confused:
