N249 bypass

hey been looking round here for instructions on the n249 bypass. from what me and "Mat" can work out, is this right?

if so could i remove the pipe to where the red circle is, the green end should connect onto the 007 valve?

ive also noticed a screw in to the t-piece is that ok? why would there be a screw in there any ideas?

Regarding the screw, it looks like someone didn't have a proper connector and just used a t-piece with once side blanked off, messy IMO considering you are dealing with a vacuum system

mine looks piped up different to that first picture in that link provided, theres a t-piece near the 007 where a new vac hose goes into, mine doesnt have that t piece. where does that vac hose go bent up and out the top of the picture?

also do you have to keep it connected up ive heard it bring up a fault code?

The T-piece is for my boost gauge, as the guide says, please ignore it, thats where i used to get my boost reading from until i changed it to read from the FPR.

You can remove the N249 but you will need transistor for the sensor otherwise you will get an error, i just left my N249 in place even though it doesn't do anything.

hi, my car has had this carried out by the previous owner, i couldnt understand why this mod was required in the first place, i asked on here and when i was in at awesome a few weeks back too.Is it to stop that weird noise on start up and warm up? my engine light is on but the old owner has stuck some insulation tape over it on the dash! if i got a resistor fitted would the light go out? many thanks for any possible help.

thanks rsmith yes thats very helpful ive got a hose joiner laying around somewhere to replace the t-piece. just need some more blue hose to match the rest.

I have posted my boost logs up for before and after this mod, the boost curve is smoother and holds more over the RPM, also the throttle response is quicker and i get nice chatter when i release the throttle.

I cannot for the life of me understand why someone would cover up the engine light! I would get you car scanned by Vag-com or something similar, that light should not be ignored.

The previous owner has had the car on vag com and has written some notes for the new owner ie me, "16795-SAI Incorrect flow detected" The technician at awesome said it was ok.

Screw that, i know it would bug the hell out of me.Has the N249 been fully removed, if so there are transistors you can buy to stop the sensor throwing an error.

This is nothing to do with the N429, the sai has been removed, this will trigger the "16795-SAI Incorrect flow detected" fault code you can switch the light of with vag-com but it will ALWAYS come back about once a month or so, it ts the same on mine i just clear the code and wait for it to come back, its been a while this time come to think about it.

Just noticed you have a Cupra R, i thought they didn't have the Sai, but that fault code is caused by it being removed on the Cupra's.

That is right gaz; just leave both disconnected; you can now remove the 3rd connection from the n249 and remove the vacuum tank etc associated with it.. Just leave the n249 electrically connected to avoid error codes. Have you got the relocation kit sorted now too?

thanks danny. no not yet ive changed the pipes that were pressing on the dv for blue ones and moved them slightly, enough to stop it rubbing for now until i get the relocation kit. im waiting on a vac joiner to arrive so i can remove that t piece aswell.
