need spare key..

i need a spare key for d car...(waranty is up etc)...dealer wants somethin like 80 quid or more...

where can i get a key cut...and programmed...or can i programe it?!?!

tried a local locksmith...he tried it in his machine but no luck and sent me 2 d dealer...
80-100 quid is robbery...

I got a flip key for my Ibiza, key was £38 on eBay but have come down in price a lot since then.

A local Timpsons cut it for me, told him to try even if he didn't think it would work but it did.

Then there is a guide on here for coding.

The buttons will work yeah, not sure about the boot one though.

its just a spare key...doesnt need to be flip..or have buttons etc...

aldo i could get a flip one and make it my main key!?!?be nicer then orginal..

im concerned about all the posts im reading regarding imboliser and alarm issues.

i have a 3 button flip key and all 3 buttons work!! i got timpsons to cut it and nicked the chip from my spare.

timpson can progam some key so might be worth asking the questions as i think they charge about £40 to program keys

i had a 3 button flip key on my 07 plate fr and all 3 buttons worked fine, no immobilsor or alarm problems either , im now in the same problem with u mark with only having one key for my golf and okay its a flip one but it look old and worn lol

i think if i have read other posts right.... if you get a new key with a blank blade you have to get it cut and u also need to buy a new transponder (£4ish) and get it programmed. but to get it programmed from somewhere out of a SEAT dealer you need to get the SKC (can't remember every acronym in the world) code.

i've heard some dealers will tell you it for free and others will charge to give you the code.

so u need key + key cutting + new transponder + SKC code + reprogrammed.
