Picking up my wife's leon in 12hrs time. It's only the 1.2tsi but I had a test drive in one the other day and was surprised by its performance. Looking forward to becoming a seat owner again as it's been a while.

Never opted for the Lifesystem so when I get it home I will clean, polish and apply some Fk1000p sealer on it.

Well I collected it today. Overall I am impressed with the spec for being a basic model. Few things I ain't keen on is the standard steering wheel (No leather) and the gear knob and gator looks cheap. Is it possible to buy the leather wheel from the better spec cars?

Steering wheels are not like they used to be, a big nut in the middle.

Electrics and airbags now come into play, so unless you really know what you are doing (which from your post I hazard you are not) I strongly suggest this is not a DIY job.

Fair enough, I would imagine that due to the fact it is an optional upgrade that the electrics are put in place already. So i was hoping it would be a case of disconnecting a few plugs and changing over the wheel.

allan@ur, where did you get those amazing wheels for your new Leon? I can't find them in the Leon or accessories brochure!

I seen these wheels on another leon in the showroom and as part of my negotiation i insisted in those wheels. I believe they are from a Audi RS6

That used to be the case, on older cars you would offten find you could add things from models further up the range, as the wiring and plugs would be there, not any more, the loom would be made for the bits your car wascs speced with and no more
Even if you were to add in all the wires etc, it still would not work as you then need to have the car coded to let it know these bits have been added

As rodger 7248 said, if you don't know what you're doing its not a good idea to play around with airbags etc

That said, if you apply basic saftey rules they are perfectly safe to remove and handle

I've set off a few, on purpose I should add, I remember thinking "I'm not sure I'd wand that going of in my face"
Lol
Although it was not fixed to anything and went 20 feet in the air, so it wasn't quite the way car makers ment for it to go off

Trust you have informed your insurers about the non-standard wheels. they will consider them a modification and you could find yourself without insurance if you had a bump.

Also consider that large wheels/tyres are very poor in bad weather/snow. Consider getting a standard set and some winter tyres for use between November and March which will also prevent your nice expensive wheels getting salt damage.
