New Clutch And Gearbox now my car wont start

2 days a go I had my clutch, freewheel and gearbox replaced on my 54 plate Seat Leon at Mr Clutch. Its a 150bhp diesel. I have driven the car twice since the change, roughly 10 miles.

My car now wont start. All the lights, wipers and the radio work fine. There is no turning over of the engine at all, there is no noise from anywhere. I turn the key and nothing at all happens. I have noticed the battery light on the dash soemtimes comes on and sometimes not. I have tried the car today and its not working. I have checked the battery terminals and they are fine, fuses are fine.

Any ideas?

I think you should phone mr clutch and get them to sort it as i guess it stated fine before you took it to them?

Yeah I have had no problems prior to this. I was going to take it back tomorrow if it starts. Was just wondering if anyone knew anything i could check in the meantime or things to mention to Mr Crap

is there power going into the starter motor! friend of mines got a new gearbox and the cable for the soleniod in the starter fell off! (got knocked off a little)

have a loook down for any loose wires?

I'm guessing but maybe the battery is flat, diesels require a large current to start (warm the glow plugs and due to high compression, a lot of turning force). The radio and wipers work because these are low current items. I'd check the alternator, ensure the belt is on and that all connections are good. If that is ok, try jump starting it from another car (preferably a diesel too) and leave it running for a while to charge the battery. They could have messed up the starter motor too as they've had the gearbox off. Check the connector and wires to it.

My car has randomly started after not doing a thing. I guess they have left some wire/connection loose. Good workmanship I guess

Thats what you get im affraid when you take it to a garage, because its not there car there working on they dont care. bunch of chimps if you ask me!!!

Maybe check all connections around the gearbox and engine bay where they worked could be something not on right?? I bet its got really dirty fingermarks everywhere so best take a rag and can of gunk with you too!!

A earthing strap wasnt connected properly as it turns out. Car is fine now. I would say pay peanuts you get monkeys, but what I had carried out wasnt cheap. Last time I use them thats for sure as I nearly payed out for RAC cover just to get it to them

id ring them about it , say youvve been out of pocked for a mobile spark to look at it and locate the fault no reciept done it cheaper on the side ,
