Well today is 1 year since SWMBO smashed her leg horse riding and she is doing quite well and able to climb stairs and get about although a lot of effort is needed

there is a knee there somewhere in the middle

So we took the day off work, went out and about window shopping and had a bite to eat and reflected on the past year and her recovery from wheelchair to zimmer frame to today where she walks with a stick but not for too much longer (we hope)

we came across an ICE shop and went in to look,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, came out with this (it's an Alpine of some description)>>>

looks good methinks with the HU in the lower slot and it turns on/off, navigates and charges her Ipod so it can just stay in the glove box out the way, the sound is sooooooooooooo much better even with standard speakers

All this means that the old aux in thingy is not needed>>>>

Good to hear, nathwarr. She'll be driving your car when you're not looking before you know it :)

The stereo looks good, did you need any kind of aerial adapters etc. to fit it?

They look just like woodscrews to me :)

Nice metalwork :-o

yeah we saw the metalwork before the op and they are very much like wood screws but with torx heads and made of titanium

she has another lot of metalwork in her femur very much the same but I have no pics as my camera battery's went flat [:@]

ouch. Mate broke his femor, isnt it like the stronest bone in the body

you could be right

don't ever smash your femur and tibia in the same leg though as it takes 6 monts to be able to walk again

better off braking both tibia's apparantly

all connections including steering wheel interface was in the box, just needed to swap the yellow and red around (30 secs) to get it to keep it's radio station memory etc

yes she does enjoy driving it (much better than an astra cdti150 so she says, apart from the lack of leather)

Looking into getting an alpine soon, what model is it and roughly how much was it

The leg looks nasty, one of my mates mums had a cage around her leg for 18 months, and now she can only just walk on it, that was 4 years ago, at least shes making a good recovery

just had a look on the halfrauds site and it is this one>>>>>http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...1516_crumb_31265-31371_parentcategoryrn_31516

it is shown illuminated in blue but it can change to red as in my pic

does that mean the controls on the steering wheel work with your shiny Alpine?

i know its a stupid question

ok so if you had a facelift steering wheel then would they work with your shiny new Alpine?

:)

I'll happily take the adapter off your hands! :) Good to see that the missus is making a good recovery ;)

head unit looks good mate, just treated myself to one too:)

my steering wheel controls work fine just had to buy the correct adapter comes in two parts costs about 40 bucks from caraudiodirect

are you talking about the exact same head unit ?

not the exact same one mines is black with red display not quite as well spect as yours:( same stuff like ipod control, bass engine but not the dot matrix display and not as powerful. still much better than standard.

always liked alpine units well built and always sound better than the rest imo.
next step sound deaden the doors :)
