Well spotted.
I wonder if the 160bhp TDi is just the 150bhp TDi with a slightly different map. ie. can you get more power out of remapping the TDi 160 than the TDi 150?

Will not rust as bad ive seen some ibizas in some state mk2/3.
maybe more refined.
better gearing to take advantage of the power i always found the gearing all wrong on the mk3 ibiza cupra R.
an option of 160bhp TDI.
My personal fealing is as renault have said they will have both the 182PS and a 200bhp(detuned megan sport turbo engine) opinion in the brand new clio sport when it comes out that SEAT have missed an opportunity to lead the pack with the new cupra with a powerful petrol engine.
If they could have just talked VW into letting them have the new 2.0 TSI 200bhp engine from the new golf GTI or used the 1.8T 210 unit
or even audi for the 1.8T 190PS unit as a minimum thats in the A4.
The problem is the ibiza cupra is going to have the same problem the 206GTI180 and clio182/clio172 have now there so close to the civic type R for price and are 20bhp down on power/ability/room. So its going to get bad reviews in the magazines because of it.
I think the only saving face for SEAT will be the ibiza 160TDI Cupra as a new idea in the segment. but they should have done something with a powerful petrol too.
I agree BUT thats IF it ever comes out - theres been that much speculation about when it will come out, if it will come out, what engine it will have - so far we've had the following engines going into the Ibiza Cupra:
1.9 PD TDI 150
1.9 PD TDI 160
2.0 TDI 170
20VT - 180
20VT - 225
I really hope SEAT pull there fingers out - i might have considered one if they had been abit more forthcoming with info - when i e-mailed them they said that they had no info as to when or if they would be releasing it at all. I've gone for the 130 TDI Sport and i'm very happy with it. I may look at Revo/Jabba/AMD in the future and IF the Cupra comes out, then look at getting the kit, but i for one can't be ar5ed waiting for SEAT to make their minds up.
I know Autocar mag have the release dates of all the new cars in their - the Cupra was supposed to be out in Jan, then one of the editions recently dropped it all together and it wasn't listed - is this a sign? The next car from SEAT is supposed to be the Altea, then i imagine they'll look at the replacement Leon & Toledo.

It also says the Leon V6 was out in June 01 - this doesn't mean it'll come to the UK even if it is released. By looks of things the FR should have been out last month so i wouldnt read too much into that
thats a parts list from the parts list disc.
for the dealers to find parts from for different models.
Its 'build' date not release date.
Its a date from when it was made for the factory start production date.
companys always build stock before releasing a car for example MINI did for over 3 months maybe longer but the build date could be 3 months before the lanch date. even longer in other countrys.

Just because its on the list does of cause not meen its available in the UK but there maybe gray imports that someone comes into a seat dealer and asks for parts for so its on the list.
You will also notice that the mexican versions are listed for the same reason. its built date. not release date in a certain country.
But that link of the pic is about as official notice of new models from SEAT as you will get as its sent to dealers as an update to there lists.
SEATs press office and Q answeres have no idea whats going on so just fob you off. That ETKA pic is from SEAT as an update to dealers so is as good confermation of maybe uk models as you will get as SEAT UK don't know there ass from there elbow
FR according to autoexpress is out the 26th this month. I wait and see if its true or not i don't think it will be.

If the FR was out on the 26th, you'd think it would have been advertised by now to get people going to the dealers to enquire/pre-order/book test drives etc. You'd also think it would be on the website too

Afterall the ETKA parts list discs and its updates are suppose to be confidential privileged infomation between SEAT and there dealers only.

I think there are some people around who just don't like the Mk 4 Ibiza and never will. Others, like me, are fans and think it's a great little car.
Of the Ibiza models available I think the FR stands out as the best blend of price, performance and specification, especially with the forthcoming facelifted version. Have a look at the Evo review of the Ibiza Cupra posted by BeeSix today and you will see that Evo recommends the FR as the pick of the range. I really like mine anyway.

Made for some interesting reading tbh!
Alot of people couldnt see the car being as succesful as it was, makes me think about the slating the mk2 Leon got awhile ago!
Made me giggle alot of the posts on the first page..

To answer, Yes they did... No its not, and its a FR?!
Tho the petrol model was only mentioned at the early stages and that hasnt been as big a success as the TDi (which is basically a Sport)
Personally, I prefer the overall look of a standard FR over a standard Sport (of the day)

Yeah, IMO they got it spot on, just lacking a bit of build quality here and there, i much prefer my FR TDI as apposed to my old 52 plate TDI Sport, its just the subtle changes i like, wing mirrors, exhaust, wheels, dials, dash. Things like that... especially the MP3 player and steering controls. + the fact that my FR is not wrapped around a load of concrete pillars like my TDI Sport was last time i was in it.
