New tyres needed....

Right, i need some new tyres for my car soon, so i have decided to purchace them off mytyres as they seem quite cheap and i have alreaddy found a local garage that will fit them and ballance them etc for £11 a corner.
I am still slightly undecided about which tyre to go for as i have not had first hand experience of either but from this forum i am led to believe that both are good tyres?
the two tyres i am choosing between are
TOYO PROXES T1-R 225/45 ZR17 94Y RF Rim-protection at £79.20 each
or
Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3 but i am not sure which ones i should be buying as there are three on mytyres and apart from the slight difference in price i don't know what the difference is. They are
Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3 225/45 R17 91Y BSW, VSB at £76.30 or
Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3 225/45 R17 91Y at £86.60 or
Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3 225/45 R17 94W XL BSW, VSB runout at £84.30
If i am buying the Eagle F1's, which ones should i be buying (i.e. which ones do you all have?)?
Also which brand would you advise?
BTW my car has the standard 17inch FR wheels.

Thanks in advance.

Eagles would get my vote, they are also the forum favourite at the moment. You'll need the XL tyres though, as the Leon is a heavy car.

thanks for the quick reply again rob, but are you saying that i have to have the extra load (XL) tires?
can any other leon tdi fr drivers with these tyres state which tyres they are using out of the three i have listed? (or other if i have not listed the correct ones!)
sorry if i am being stupid but i just can't see what the difference is in these tyres and how the price relates to them.......

Alot of people have had F1's bulging at the sides. Having tried them both I'd recommend Dunlop SP Sport Maxx at £80.10 and Falken FK-452 at £64.80. The new Falkens are getting rave reviews from everyone who's trying them, having tried them myself they have just as much grip as my Dunlops, which is alot! They are both XL tyres.

Rob, thanks for the advise. I will definatle seriously concider your two recommendations. I must say that at £65 the falken do seen very good value. Whats the ware rate like on them?
Also i see that you too are based in scotland! Do you buy your tyres off mytyres or is there a good tyre place you use up here in scotland to purchace tyres and have them fitted? I live near perth but don't mind travelling abit for a good price/service.
and finally, what a stunning car you have got!!!

I got my Falkens from Camskill, £65 each with free delivery for 225/40ZR18. My local tyre guy at CLCM in Edinburgh always fits and balances my tyres, £10 a rim.

Weird but the 225/45/17's are £69.80! Goodyear F1's are £83 each, Toyo T1-R's are £77 each which is a good deal too. All XL and all good tyres, plenty of choice!

I have SP Sport MAxx on mine since I got it a couple of months ago, they're about a mill above the wear indicator and I've still to squeal round a corner. I don't know if that's just me not pushing the car (probably) but I'm still taking corners faster than I have in any other I've ever owned.

Interesting to see people mention them on here, noone has before it's always been Toyos and GSDs.

Hmmm, now to decide what I'll replace mine with.

Wish I was rich and could get a set for summer and a set for winter.

Speaking of tyres, how come noone paints the writing text white anymore? lol

When the Bridgestones were past their best, I too fitted F1 GSD3's and found them very good. However, they too are getting past it (after 20K) so had some Avon ZZ3's fitted to the back of my little yellow tractor as a trial (special offer at National) after hearing some good reports.

Thought I'd made a mistake at first, back end a bit lively in the damp, but after bedding in, I am very, very impressed. So have just ordered a set for the front, £127 for the axle set, all in.

I used Tyre Shopper and have found their prices very competitive - plus you get Tesco Clubcard points...

BTW the same tyres fitted from mytyres worked out at £138 for the axle set, using the cheapest fitters in the area.

eventually decided on the Falken FK 452's from camskill for £279.20 for all four wheels. fitting and ballencing should cost less than £50 so all in all a pretty good deal i think.:funk:
Just waiting for them to arrive, probably tomorrow!
will let you know what i think of them when i have covered a few miles with them!
thanks for everyones help
