Hi all new to the site looking to buy my first cupra r this Friday my03 in yellow no fade which I know is common remapped to260-265 with 007 DV (power sound right) no other modifications looks really clean got recaro spec interior ect, was just wondering how they drive, power delivery ect and what it would be like to my old wrx 225bhp? Thanks sam

Welcome from one newbie to another. I do not own one yet I have to be honest, but I have had the pleasure of driving two, one being standard on 110k and the other remapped on 90k. From my experience the are comftable, I didn't notice any pot holes, lumps or bumps but being english roads I'm certain that was not the case. Through corners it felt planted, there was very little body roll and no noticeable understeer and I felt almost reassured and urged to drive harder by the recaros clinging onto me. The power was smooth but punchy, when I hit the magic rpm (unsure of what is as I was to busy looking where I was going lol) the car felt as if it had grown wings because f**k me did it take off (that was the standard 225 one aswell) With regards to practicality, considering its a hot hatch you cant fault it, apart from the glove box which is a little annoying but definitely not a put off.

As mentioned I'm a massive newb, and im sure someone else can give you a much better review than I can, but still hope this helps in someway! :)

Yes that helps was just wondering if there is much "spin" or if there pretty good in wet, iv never had a play with one in the subaru had plays with my mates golf anni which was mapped to 235 and they was pretty much same but I'm sure I won't be disappointed if I get it

Yes I knew you would but bad?? Had a vxr running 285 that was stupid in wet was pointless putting your foot down... I no will be down to tyres ect

When I drove them it was dry both times, so I didn't get any spin. But from what I've read you do have to be a bit more cautious in the wet. I was curious to how they drove as well so I approached two local car dealers pretending I wanted to buy, both dealers let me test drive no questions asked, they didn't even ask If I had a driving license, and both urged me to put my foot down. If your really unsure this might be an idea, maybe you could do this on the way to see yours as then you would have a benchmark to compare it to?

Hope this helps.

What's yours running mapped? 260ish? Wanting to decat mine of I get it but that will mean another remap no doubt

As long as you feed the power in rather than demand it you'll be ok in the wet. It takes some getting used to but if mapped well, good rubber and decent engine mounts you can be "progressive" and keep the traction.

Ballerina feet :D

Ye take some used to coming from awd let's just hope I'm not disappointed as the subaru used to put you back in your seat just got a feeling not going to have the same affect

Mines just a Cupra not Cupra "R" with decat and custom map now running 230ish after the exhaust and filter I had fitted last week or so. My mates Cupra R is running a decat and custom map at 270ish.
It doesn't necessarily mean you need another map if you decat it, you may need a spacer for the second lambda sensor so the ecu doesn't throw up any errors tho.

Yep I used to have a scooby STI...
Cupra r is quicker, but as said..a bit of body and a bit of wheel spin..
Better on fuel than a scoob, trust me you won't be dissapointed with the LCR.
Pulls very hard throughout the rev range right upto 155+ on private road of course.

;)

Oh yeh just think of the transmission losses on 4wd...
Need big power to make it worth while in 4wd.

Ye true is there anything else I should look for when buying the car Friday I have looked at the buyers guide so far:
Door seals
Fade in colour, he says its been dry stored no fade at all
Anything else common on these what I should look out for?
