I went to underground car park tonight which has bright lights to have a good look i nthe engine. I took the plate off and the foam but thats underneath and I prefer it off. There are alot of metal and plastic bits that I could spray, clean and polish and it would look alot better. Also want to get some blue hoses and semco pipes in there. Along with the cupra air intake. Incedently, where can I get that cupra air intake from?

I'll prob keep it for when I sell the car (in many many years). Plus it looks good in the garage covered in dust

its only there imo to hide the fact the engine is a 8 valve not a 16 valve.

If you didnt know anything about the car, and saw the engine with the cover on, you would think it to be a valver.

how mental would these PD engines be in a twin cam if they can do this with only one

I can't believe they've made the engine cover optional ???

On the TDIs, together with the carefully moulded bits of foam round the cylinder head, they are supposed to help cut engine noise.

I stand by my prediction that one day they'll have cut so many more bits out of the Mk4 each model year, that eventually it won't actually have an engine

Sounds to me like a company desperately trying to save money.

Meh, I dont really care cos its comming off with the foam undeaneth and sitting in my Garage till I sell. Sprayed, clean shiny engine to come, along with new hoses and semco pipe be my first mod WOO lol

at the end of the day, the model is due for replacement soon, so the parts bins are prolly running low.

There are benefits of having less parts - lighter, means faster !

Yes...because the plastic plate takes about a second off u 0-60 time

yeh it might be so that they can keep up with other manufacturers decreasing 0-60 times lol
