Hi all, i have got my hands on a damaged mk4 ibiza with the 2front airbags out, an 1 seat belt is jammed. Iv bought airbags with the dash and seat belts. Only thing is my power steering is not working at all, the warning light is on along with airbag lights. Could any give me some advice on how to get steering working again. cheers.

Also am I right in thinking that there is an impact sensor mounted just behind the front bumper It looks like a small square block with a shaft/stem in the middle?

Many thanks.

Have you checked over the power steering pump? If your car has had a frontal impact the pump could be damaged.

I agree - the pump is mounted directly below the battery and next to the windscreen washer reservoir - front nearside - very vulnerable in a front end collision.

On an impact the power steering gets disabled as a safety thing. this could well be why the light is on. you need vag com or a seat dealer to re enable the power steering. Then fingers crossed the pump isn't smashed.

Some people have had the steering disabled due to a large pot hole. do a search mate.

Ye i think that is whats happened, do you no anywhere i could use this vag com im in birmingham area

some1 has told me i will need to buy a new ecu module for the airbags is this right or will i be able to reset?
