Hey guys,

Just trying to install my new Head unit

I have plugged in the 1 to 2 splitter plug and then plugged the brown and black plugs into this. There are some extra cables coming from the splitter that I haven't plugged in (Which I presume I need to?) and I am getting no power to the HU. I am a total beginner at this and have no idea what to do.

I wanted to post this before I take it to an ICE centre tomorrow to see if anyone can suggest anything I may be missing so I don't have to spend £25.

Help!

Not to sound dumb but how do I do that? ;D

Just had a look at the red and yellow wires don't actually go anywhere they just end in a plastic sleve with a metal end inside that looks like you crimp it?

Swap the red and yellow wires round on the new headunit ;) and put your cars ignition on as well (after its all plugged in)

you should still be getting power to the hu, swapping the wires is usually to sort out the memory so that you don't lose all your settings every time you turn off the ignition

Right.. What can I do to try and find out why I'm not getting power? Literally nothing lights up on the HU at all. I have the born and black plugged into the correct port as they can only go in 1 way.

I would get some pics but it's gone dark now!

I've just put the old radio back in, can't get the front panel to clip in now though but it came up on screen "1000" anyone know what that means?

Quick google says I need to enter the radio code so I'll go look in the manual for that, hopefully its in there.

More great news, I don't have the radio unlock code as it's been cut out of the manual (as per instructions) it says I can get this sorted at a Seat dealer for no expense so I guess I shall be giving them a ring. I do have the details for the original owner of the car though so I could give him a call first (only other owner)

Thanks, Damoegan, just got a friend to tell me almost the same thing which worked fine. He told me to connect the yellow to yellow, red to red and the orange to a cable in the car but I can't see that one so I guess it's orange to orange on this cable. What does that OtoO do? Also why the red to yellow?

Dimmer sounds right mate.

Thats the same signal booster I usu. I used the remote live for a amp. Your head unit manual will tell you hate wire it is, but off the top off my head I think its the blue and whit wire.

No, no. the signal booster plugs into the back of the head unit then the ariel plugs into that, then the wire coming off the signal booster goes to the remote live (blue & white).

OK, I've got it all connected up and working!

BUT!

I can't get the cage to stay inside the slot as there is no where for it to grip on to? Also I can't push the HU in as all the cables behind it prevent this.

Anyone know how to get the cage to fit snugly so it's hard to pull out? Anyone could just pull it out at the moment (not that it's in anyways!)

when you put the cage in (on its own) there should be lots of places to push down the little bits all around.

Also with the wires you'll just have to push them back as far as possible with the head unit as close to in as you can with your hand in there and work at it!
