I picked my FR tdi up last week and it had a noise best described as wheel bearing noise. Dealer said its a common fault and its rear tyres, they have replaced the rear tyres but the noise is still there. One of their technicians went for a drive with me and said its noisier than normal and they now want to try swapping all the wheels with another car to see if it is all 4 tyres. Do you guys have any ideas what it could be?

I've read the other tyre posts and the problem disappears with new tyres why not mine?

Wheel bearing mate .... had my dealer telling me it was tyres, £320 quid later for new rear tyres ... and noise still there - then they realised it *was* the wheel bearing

Ask them to check the four wheel alignment - I've had two FR's now and the rear has been out on both generating quite a lot of noise - Also if it is not and alignement then you have had it checked for free :)

Maybe the rear alignment is out and one of the pairs of tyres that got chewed up are now on the front.

If it still does it after all 4 are changed it could be a wheel bearing.

It only has 15000 miles on it seems a bit soon for wheel bearings isn't it. I'm not convinced they have put new tyres on but can't be definate.

where would i get this information as the technician didn't seem to know about it?

The FR's and Cupra's (does sure about other models) are fully adjustable front and rear ie for want of a better expression you can adjust the tracking on the front and rear. Meaning that they need to be aligned together else the car can crab down the road. My Dealer can do this, therefore they all should know about this. Having said this I take my car to an indepent garage to have mine checked. If they still do not know about four wheel alignment I suugest they contact another dealer that does. PM me and I can give you contact number of my dealer or the place I use Cheers
