Nomad pillars .......again

Bought myself a nomad pillar a while ago and an autometer oil temp and boost gauge, but due to it being cold outside i asked a garage to fit at the same time thay did my ARBs.
But they didn't fit to well but the bloke in the garage said he could dremel it out bigger, now i know the actual gauge diameter is slightly different due to imperial gauges and metric pillar but this is not the problem. It is the piece behind the gauge that clamps it in place that wont fit the pod. The bloke took of as much as he could but still couldn't get it to fit properly .
Now the gauges are sat slightly on the piss and the surround doesn't lie flat on the pod leaving the white behind the gauge showing.
Has anyone else had this, or could it just be a crap moulding.
Either way i am tempted to mask gauge and paint the white of the gauge that is showing.
Or is there another way as i have seen others with the same type gauges and pillars but they seem to fit fine???

I cut the bracket that holds the gauge in, in half - so there's only one screw holding mine in. No way could I see that there would be room for the full bracket.

It stays in straight and hasn't come loose in 18 months so must be OK

Didnt use the bracket, fitted a thick rubber band around gauge a sqeezed it in, fits nice and snug no rattles and never moves (why would it?). mine is one of the original nomad pillar covers with no screw and i've never had an issue, good strong velcro holds it in place and i even have the mike for car kit looped over the top! Imo it looks very oem, with the right gauge!

I have Autogauge Oil Temp & Boost, and didn't have to mod the pillar or use the brackets, they were a nice tight fit out the box...

Must have been lucky!

Or i might go down the pub ??

Got out there today to sort them out as it wasn't raining and mutilated the brackets to get the fit.
Oil temp now sits fine but i got an adapter from work for the boost line so i could use decent 4mm pipe. But the nut on back is M8 so this is now fouling!! so gonna have to get an adapter with an M6 or smaller then fit that and try and straighten up the gauge.
Hopefully the next time will be the last time i have to fiddle with it!!!
