Some idiot has either keyed my car or been careless. I have two scratches running along the rear door and quarter. I have a can of spray paint and a touch up pen. Which would be better? On my old car I had a scrape on the arch and spray canned it, left it to set for a few days and then removed the overspray with far farcela g10 compound before polishing and you can't tell. Not sure if this will work on these scratches due to their location. Any ideas?

are they deep enough for a thumb nail to catch in them ?

reason i ask is that if not then they should polish out, if so then a spray over will be required. i wouldnt use a touch up pen for anything bigger than a stone chip

Sorry to hijack but the girlfriend has also a similar problem. Whilst parked up somebody scratched the rear panel, single scratch, about 6 inch long. It's gone through the paint into the undercoat (white layer) but not to the metal. We only have a touch-up pen. Is there any way in which we can at least make it look a little better!?

Much like the above poster really. I wouldn't usually advocate a touch up pen either but with a very fi e brush and g12 I thought it would be ok. Mine are wavy ones starting on the rear door to the lights

It really does depend on whether you want it to look perfect again or just better... i know what my preference would be and thats why i said a touch up pen for anything other than stone chips just isnt worth it.

Your best bet is to call a mobile scratch / dent removal company for a quote and progress it that way tbh.

With time and a steady hand you could probably (just about) touch in the scratches with the paint from the pen and a very fine brush, build up the paint layer, rub it back once dry with wet n dry and then polish it out.

The results wouldnt be as clean as spraying the area though.

I cant understand what people get out of doing this sort of damage to someone`s car, i would happily break their fingers if i saw anyone doing it.
