Service maybe

I checked the oil this morning as this clattering is concerning me and its exactly in the middle of the gauze or B section on the dipstick. It the place I bought it from done a service but surely it should be at the top or section A?

Maybe this is causing the noise? but more so I hope it hasn't used that much in the three weeks ive had it!

That sounds fine, in the middle is good.

Seriously all your troubles (or at least finding the cause of them) would be over if you took it to a proper tuner and said hi im thinking about a remap but also my car seems slower than it should. They should be experts in finding out why cars arent as fast as they should be, its what they do for a living after all.

Totally agree and appreciate your guidance, my issue is the car has a short warranty so if for example for actuator is not working or its the turbo itself I don't want to be shelling out for it  The more I think about it, it just feels like a quickish 2.0 non-turbo petrol car almost

Like most warranties there are lot or rules to follow, although it does mention paying for diagnostics

You may have no choice but to diagnose it. You shouldn't have to pay for the diagnostic if the fault is found but then again if the fault is there but they fob you off how will you know? Get it diagnosed independently first, which is also what a good tuner can do.

I know that seems the obvious thing and 99% of people probably would

However, I don't want to be faced with...no fault lights and it feels fast enough to us...as it really isn't :/

Plus I don't believe they have the equipment to get the figures you can on VCDS

I think this is the best plan, not sure if they charge for the initial diagnostics?

Out of interest, doesn't VCDS show up if a car has been re-mapped?

Update…

So I spoke to four local VAG specialists about the car yesterday, three of them asked if its had the cambelt done recently the went onto say about an adjustable pulley? which people often get wrong, in my case yes they place I got it from did change the belt and waterpump so doesn’t bode well :/ Two of them said to not drive it hard and one said to maybe drive it at all! Maybe scaremongering but who knows. So I am going to drop it to one of them Monday who is actually a Revo dealer so would hope they know what they are doing!

Thanks to all of you for help, guidance and patience so far with my probably annoying questions, hopefully we are getting there!

I took a video which you can just about hear the noise I am talking about, you can make it cackle when just accelerating lightly, may help a little if anyone can recognise the noise?!

Hi all!

So I took the car into the specialist yesterday just to let them listen and drive it with no charge. The bloke straight away heard the noise and said it wasn’t right and could be a software update but asked if cambelt had been done recently.

They are having it back to do proper diagnostic which I believe would include the syncro angle on VCDS which if wrong would indicate cambelt not done correctly? If, it does show as not boosting properly could this also be caused by cambelt if wrong or something else?

There were some faults stored when he had it briefly on VCDS from sensor near cam cover but said this is possibly just where it had been apart?

Cheers

Cheers, its just had one when I bought it along with cambelt and water pump :/ and has FSH

I noticed this morning I didn't do it at all until I was in 6th about 80ish and had to let off then accelerate again

When you say dyno is that like VAGCOM?

Car may be out a tooth if can belt has been done
