Not another remap thread! After your CR 170 remap – does your turbo kick in sooner?

So its being checked as we speak and the specialist has said the timing was marginally out so have re-adjusted on the bottom pulley and are now going to check the other bits and pieces.

I guess marginally can be enough to cause issues then?

When they did the tests on VCDS after sorting the timing it is giving the exact requested boost and DPF and everything looking fine they told me.

Its now much better! :D

Deffo nicer in traffic, more responsive and picks up as it should with the revs now, phew!

Stiill dubious if it pulls as good as my PD150 higher in the revs but shall play by ear and then maybe re-map

Many thanks to ALL of you for your comments and advice during this

Thanks lads, and yes indeed!

My only small gripe, is the pinking, rattly, clattery noise which you can hear the in the videos above still seems there, maybe not quite as bad. They said there didn't seem to be a software update as this fixed a similar issue on Golfs before. When I again mentioned the other cars I tried didn't make it at all they said it could be down to software? :/ Those cars were all 2010's and mine is 2011. Does this sound correct? If not I feel further investigation may be needed

I have uploaded two more videos, from the outside this time. This pinking noise I keep talking about now appears to fade a lot when the car gets warmer as in 30 minutes plus driving if that helps and a couple days just hardly seemed there at all :/

I know you wouldn't normally sit there revving your engine like this but just trying to let you hear the lose sound which doesn't seem right?

Starts on the button, pulls well, good mpg, no smoke, smooth idle, just left with the intermittent pinking sound mostly from cold for about 20 minutes to work and back.

I take it the very light diesel rattle is normal? as I think I have two noises going on!

Cheers

I really doubt it mate, would be great if it was.

Have a listen to the videos and you shall probably change your mind!

in my experience of diesels id say there wasnt any cause for concern and can be pretty rough from cold till they get some heat in them. could be tappets till the oil gets abit of heat thins up and it loses this tappey clattering noise. maybe a slightly lower oil grade or slick 500 mixture might help especially when its cold out. when you rev it alittle the oil pressure will increase thereby getting more oil flow to mentioned areas and so lessining the noise. i could be totally wrong but had variety of diesels izusu/ landrover td5 and various GM diesels and all had this affliction when cold for varieing amounts of time.

Cheers vfr, I agree sometimes, but I drove another FR today, same year, same miles, it was very quiet compared to mine, just as the other three were.

I also blipped the throttle just like I did in the video, but was still silent with no clattering.

As soon as I drove mine tonight it was like vtec kicking in on a Honda when it hit about 2500rpm

I would says its deffo like a struggling sound if it helps, clear from cold more so.

Anything?

Anyone? :/

I still have this noise, one person said it could be the timing is STILL out as the specialist only had time to check pins and adjust on cam and crank, not on pump. Then reading more I found this tread:

https://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=317345

Talking about injector deviation, could this be something?

Another place had a look and listed ad spotted fuel around the injector nearest driver side, believes its just an O ring so replaced and keeping a check on.

any help please?
