Has anyone had any issues with OBD scanners playing up?
I have an autel maxiscan ms300 that I bought a while ago to clear a misfire fault after a coilpack went, but I went to use it yesterday after the EML appeared on the drive home, and it wouldn't power up. I connected it to my mate's 04 plate Fiesta and it turned on straight away.
I read something about after-market headunits causing an issue, so I pulled that out and it worked. I managed to get the codes off (P0036 and P0136) and read something from 8-bit on here saying he just cleared these and they didn't come back. Thought I'd give that a try and look into it further if the EML returned after a bit of driving, rather than just replacing the Lambda sensor straight away. So I went back to the car, connected the scanner, but all I'd get is 'link error.' I tried this three times until the screen suddenly went off. Now I can't get the scanner to power up in my car , though it works fine on others.
Has anyone got any advice? I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, but it hasn't made a difference.
Going to a friendly local garage I know tomorrow to see if theirs works. It'd be nice to have one of my own I can use though.
