Hi,
Just wondered if anyone had used VCDS as a generic OBD2 scan tool?

I've looking at trying it on a Nissan but don't want to damage anything!
(no nasty comments about nissans please :p)

cheers

You won't damage anything if you have a Ross-Tech interface. In theory, you should not damage anything with any interface. But .....

Hook it up and try it. Some Asian cars will talk the same protocol as VW. Some will not. The US manufacturers choose another path so you cannot talk to Ford, Chrysler or GM products.

Some other Europeans do as the VW folks do. You should be able to "talk" to those cars.

VCDS is compatible with all OBDII CAN based diagnostics. So, by the 2008 model year, all cars should talk to VCDS. :)
