odd idle issues

over the last few days ive noticed that when i have to stop the revs will hold at 1100/1500 rpm for few seconds then drop off to around 800 rpm. and also when i start it from cold i go to drive off as normal but it stalls so i have to give it some revs as i pull off but after a few mins it ok its a 1.8 AGN engine

i ran vagcom today but no fault codes.

What about unplugging the MAF and going for a very short drive.
