oh

*touches as much wood as possible*

I'm not burning oil (yet), 51 plate with AUQ lump.... here's hoping the old girl just keeps on going for the moment. Wanting to move and be able to get the car off the road, proper TLC time methinks! ;)

Mines been burning oil for quite a while,(18 months) at first i thought it was the turbo so i changed that but it would seem it was the rings/valve stem seals.

At least once its done you won't have to worry about the rods, or the exhaust valves, well worth the peace of mind considering how much else has gone into the car :)

Yeah you get to a point where its not worth selling, my wife said i need to sell it! when she got home from the hospital she understood why its better to invest in it and keep it.

:cartman:

Very true! I look at mine and think 10 years old, I'd get buttons trying to sell it.... Sod it, let's just have some fun instead :D

Phill did your motor suddenly start burning oil or has it got progressively worse. Took my pistons outta my engine with 150k on and the cylinder walls were spot on (exept the one that the rod snapped)

Did the compression gauge pump up normally takes only a couple of seconds, they normally have a check valve that can sometimes leak and let the pressure back out. The only reason i say that its just with those low figures you would expect to see the dipstick flying out and be able to see / feel fumes coming outta the hole where the dipstick goes.
Don't suppose it really matters if your pulling it apart anyway to put the rods etc in, but thought i would chip in.
