Sorry guys - I know this topic has been thrashed to death but even reading every page using Search hasn't really told me what I want to know.
I'm doing an N249 bypass in a couple of weeks and it's a good opportunity to replace the broken dipstick guide - been running around for thousands of miles with it bust! (Without any problem; I might add...) Trouble is that mine's broken right at the bottom, as the plastic gubbins disappears into the metal. Every thread I've read suggests that the break has been further up and the simple remedy is along the lines of "Just grip the tube and pull it out."
I don't have anything to grip! I imagine that I ought to be able to hook something down into the remains of the tube and yank it out - but I want to get it right first time to avoid any debris necessitating a sump drop.
Anyone done this - and how did you do it, please?
