Oil for higher power/fast road/trackdays?

Just wondering what engine oil people are using for their modifed engines?

I know VAG recommend 5W30 for 504.507 but I am looking at Millers CFS 5W40 or Silkolene Pro S 5W40 right now which have been mentioned for high performance/higher heat applications.

I understood VAG specified 503.01 oil spec for all cars with an output exceeding 180bhp, S3's , TT's etc.

But I'm talking about better oils than OE spec for hard use.

I use Motul 300V Power 5W-40 Racing lubricant.

3 oils are all a similar price and are all supposed to be very good, £44.99 for 5 litres of Millers CFS 5W40 competition oil, 5 litres of Silkolene Pro S Race 5W40 and 4 litres of Motul 300V Power 5W40.

Millers CFS appears to be the only one that is triple ester. it says:

No issues with it Rob - it smells lovely!

I went for it because it was suitable for 'Engine producing medium fuel dilution in the oil.' bearing in mind the possibility of methanol getting into the oil.

been fine and coped with races and high revs

and smells nice as dave says..

double ester based veggy oil - 100% shear stable is what drew me to it

I use Castrol Edge 5W30 in my track toy - no problems at all in 3,000 miles of track use.

Tempted to go for either Millers CFS because it's triple ester or Silkolene Pro S as that's what Opie Oils recommended to me. 5W40 or 10W40 though? Both are £44.99 for 5 litres, Motul 300V is £44.99 for only 4 litres, so it loses out on price.

Its not too bad, but nothing smells as nice as the Motul. Makes you want the catch can in the cabin with you.

someone from millers called me (he's on here i think) and offered their tripple ester oil, whic did have its appeal, but i have found v300 excellent and dont want to change for changes sake.

i am sure its good stuff.. and motul for me as a motul dealer is price appealing too

A vote here for Pro S proper ester based oil, fantastically stable and maintains good pressure when hot without being thick as syrup. I used it when i had my Cosworth (300bhp), they aren't renowned for being easy on oil and I was keeping good hot oil pressure on 5W40 on hot trackdays when other oils would need more like 15w50 or more. I'm sure the Motul is equally as good. The Pro S looks pretty (nice purple colour) even if it doesn't smell as nice

I have been using Castrol RS edge 10w60, its designed for turbo tuned and race car applications, great oil - a little to thick in the winther, switched to mobil 1 5w50 in the winther.
