Here is my Platinum LCR...

Mods so far include 18" OZ Ultralegerras and 330mm two piece floating AP-Racing/Brembo set-up with uprated pads, 5.1 fluid and custom bells.

Cheers boys,

I posted these piccies quite a while ago - quite nice to get a reply. I have some shots of the new brakes and the car was detailed recently - I will post updated pics hopefully later today. The new brakes were the best money I have ever spent on the car.

I thought about getting a better set-up for the suspension but my insurance company (Elephant) said they would cancel my policy if i did. They were ok with the new brakes and wheels aside from taking £65 off me for the privlege. I can move in August - thinking of going to greenlight as they let you do trackdays as part of the cover and they actually encourage mods!

I still have two immaculate original LCR wheels if anyone is interested... Ready to ship...

I see a few LCRs around Notts and quite a lot of Cupras - one of the tuned cupras lives someone near me - we have raced home many a time!

Do you have any pictures of yours?

The car is standard - I haven't lowered her at all which is probably for the best as I am on my fourth front splitter as it is!

I'd like to firm up the suspension but i wouldn't want to take her more than 10/15mm down... Not sure what people have been able to get away with and the car still be usable on speed bumps etc...

Did you notice any improvement in power after fitting the lightweight wheels.

I did notice a much sharper response but i did the brakes and wheels at the same time so difficult to identify which gave the most improvement. As the wheels are roughly 5kg per corner lighter the car accelerates easier, turns in sharper and brakes much more efficiently as there is less rotational mass to move. The new two piece floating discs saved over a 1kg per front corner too and it all helps.

I think the result is not an improvement in power but that the power I have is used much more effectively as I can accelerate quicker and brake with much more control and precision than before. Imagine you running round a track with a bowling ball strapped to each ankle then try the same thing without....

In addition to that she crashes less over bumps and imperfections in the road - leaves the tyres to do their job. Best money I ever spent, I chose the ultraleggeras for their weight saving and look. Are you thinking of changing yours?

yeah, I'm thinking of changing the lcr wheels to lghtweights but they are so expensive I'd have to be sure I'd feel the difference.

The ultraleggeras are no race spec magnesium but the difference was very noticable. The car feels much lighter on her feet and I'd go as far to say even more fun to drive. I am at Donington in my car for the first time at the end of the month and I am looking forward to seeing how she copes if not a little nervous!

Which wheels are you thinking of going for? I got £800 for my LCR wheels which helped towards the cost...

Very nice set up Oliver
Thats exactly the set up I'm planning on going for for the same reasons, weight saving, better braking and track focusing.
Did you need 3mm spacers for the alloys to clear the calipers.
Are you using Ferodo DS2500 pads?

Thanks mate! The new wheels came with 3mm spacers but they were not needed. I tried them for a few weeks but they had a negative affect on the drive so off they came. There is a least 1.5mm clearance for the wheels over the calipers which is perfect.

The pads are Mintex 1155s at the front and 1144s at the rear. I am so impressed with them I have a new set going on next week along with braided hoses, new 5.1 fluid and I am just waiting for AP Racing to make and ship the custom bells so it can all be assembled in time for my track day at Donington in two weeks.

What wheel/brake set-up are you thinking of getting? Do you have any pics of your car?

Did the wheels have a negative effect or the spacers?

Do you know Bill (Badger 5) sells the AP bells etc
What are you running on the rear for discs, not 2 piece aswell:-O
My avatar is my car, also pictures in Readers rides under "LCR track car in the making"
Have you tried Ferodo pads?
The set up I'm going for is AP bells, secret rotors (Bill's secret) that weight 5 Kgs each and hopefully OZ Ultra leggeras with R888 tyres
Interestingly I found out that Good Year Eagle F1 Asymmetrics (225-40-18's) are 10 Kgs's each, will probably fit these tyres first before getting R888's

Correct me if I'm wrong but are your discs not on the wrong side??
I thought the grooves were supposed to be facing away from the direction of travel
It definately does need to be on the EBC Ultimax 1 piece ones
