Hi guys, Im seriously overfueling! Im aware it may be a number of things but im just after some advice.

I know vag-com will point me in the right direction but im still searching for someone with it. Appart from stealers pulling my hand off!

I had a post cat lambda sensor go on me this week last year, so pre cat? Similar age?
Im still boosting upto and holding 12psi but its really sluggish, all temperatures are as usual, although before i decided to take her off the road, i was getting alot of white smoke, even when hot but not loosing any water. Iv examined all visible boost pipes, intercooler pipes, unplugged MAF sensor, to which idle fluctuated. Shes got green cotton pannel filter, 80mm aif feed, 007p, forge TIP and top intercooler hoses, universal FMIC with ally piping and an inlet mani insulating gasket, which have been on for 6 months with no probs. Iv nipped up all clamps on the silicon joins of cooler.

Long winded i know...

Replys appretiated.

No i havent! Will check in a min. Its looking like specialists for a diagnostic anyway.
Least il get a proper job done. Cheers willie

got a fault code reader you can us if its any use? where in blackpool are you? work at bae warton tomorrow if you can git it there

There is a very strong smell of petrol that surrounds the car. And yes, MPG has dropped massivley. I havent checked the colour of the plugs - would you reccomend it?

check plugs yes, I would expect them to be very sooty
smell of fuel... not a leak is it somewhere?

If you dont mind a trip to Manchester area I can run some logging for you... but as Bill says strong smell of fuel usually means a fuel leak?

Leak asin fuel or air? I will have a good look tonight, take bits off, check tightness of joins and remove spark plugs.

Cheers fellas

i too wanted to know how you know its overfuelling...

it seems to be due to poor mpg and smell of petrol.. so a leak is favourite in my mind. So a bit of investigation under the bonnet shouldnt take long to highlight any issues there.

My tip would be to check the fuel filter. Its located under the car, on the offside just in front of the rear wheel. About the size of a can of beans or the like.

I had a very small hole in mine, and as its under pressure it sprayed out when driving but didnt leave an abvious leak when parked. Others have similair issues.

I think iv cracked it! Iv definatly got an air leak on the cooler side...
So, if im loosing air on inlet and the fueling is correct - will i have an overfueling effect?

But after abit of a run today, I noticed the coil pack on number 1 has risen up and was sticking out a good 15mm or so. Not that much that it was jerky and missing - but why would it behave like this?

When was the fuel filter last changed ? under the drivers side in front of the rear wheel area the fuel filter sits. its a common issue that they leak and then can smell fuel in the car when driving. give poor mpg aswell. 2 seconds check feel the filter for wetness or get your nose under there and give it a sniff
