I took some new pics today just after i gaver her a full clay bar, paint clean and 2 layers of Canuba Wax.

The spoiler always shows up worse in undercover spots so i took this one to show how bad it is. Now when i bought the car it was a different colour but im sure its getting worse, im actually a cleaning freak and my car must have so much wax on it and i keep it covered up every night yet its still fading.

I've got the same problem i only noticed it a month or so ago never thought of mentioning it on the forum. Will be some thing to do the the material the paint is sprayed on i imagine. Roof will be steel and some sort of plastic for spoiler!

Same problem here too. Spoiler looks like the original deep ovni yellow whilst rest of car seems ever so slightly lighter. The plastic roof strips however, are a very light yellow/white colour! And they dont match each other either! What a great look.
And to make things worse I am about to fit a new wing mirror which will no doubt add in a 4th colour. Nice!

My spoiler and 'roof strips' are darker at the back than the rest of the roof, and my bonnet is getting more noticeable - only in some lights.

I had a friend with a new leon who debated the fading problem with SEAT and they sent a pain technician out to his car and found that the paint was too thin... i fear that's the problem with all of ours chaps.

At least we'll all look the same... Ovni at the front... beige at the back :(

Its starting to get more and more noticable the colour difference between the plastic spoiler and my roof. I keep my car covered up all the time to keep the fading to a minimum but its still getting worse grrr :(

Does anybody else have a dodgy colour match on there spoilers???

Anybody had there roof resprayed?

:)

mines various colours and also missing chunks of lacquer. no adhesion to paint what so ever... very poor paint quality.

is it the same for all mk3 cupras? mines red but where i debadged it you can still see the SEAT and IBIZA, have polished it a fair few times but nothing, didnt really want to use t-cut on it though

lol.. mine is the same... roof is lighter than the sides and bonnet... the spoiler and roof rails and a darker colour.. my roof is almost going white!!

ive been told that no polish will resolve this problem, how ever i was told a t-cut polish known as G3 - G6 and G10 will bring it all back up.. It's a product first used for marine boats and could only be bought in the trade.. anyone ever tried this stuff?

I too have heard this...but i don't fancy being the first person to 'experiment' with it.

I, and im sure many others, would be really gratefull if someone could shed some light on this topic...has anyone actually managed to get their sun faded bonnet/roof etc polished back up to a more reasonable shade?

Correct me if im wrong, but as the paint is laquered no amount of polishing using any type of polish or abrasive will bring the colour back, that is unless its the laquer that is the culprit for the faded look of the paint, which i doubt.

Looks like the paint colour itself has faded under the laquer, therefore polishing the laquer wont achieve anything.

Resprays the only way by the looks of it:doh:

I agree with you Rick.

Is it not more a case of the paint being piss thin so the sun has got to it more and showing the primer underneath?

Like I said before, a friend of mine had SEAT out and the paint was too thin - so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case for all of ours.

I have actually seen a black 53 plate LCR that had a dark grey front bumper, unfortunately more obvious after a good clean when you want it to look the best, which I think is when mine looks the worst. :(

Hey ho... everyone that's pee'd off with it, go out for a quick drive and remember why you love the car ;)

What about other yellow coloured cars, such as the V6 Clio? Not sure if the 172/182 comes in yellow?

I know there not the 'onvi' colour but do they also suffer with sun fade? Many people have said yellow paint fades quicker than others, dunno how true this is?!

Is it just the yellow colour in general or is it a SEAT thing?
