I did. But paint fade can't always be stopped. I take good care of the car, it get's washed regularly and polished and protected on a regular basis too. But with some colours and some paints, there isn't a lot you can do.
It's similar to the old 'rep red' colours you used to see faded all the time... some colours fade worse than others.
Wax will help, but it wont stop it entirely.

Luckily modern reds are much better. My Celica was red and that was kept shiny clean too with no sign of any paint fading by keeping it well protected. Unfortunately it seems as though Seat cut a few corners with the Ovni paint... seems as though they got a batch job off Del Boy!
Now that would be a one-off paint job!
i work an accident repair centre, our rates are silly to be honest. the paint and materials for a respray is approx £200 the strip and fit on respray is approx workin on say 10 hours to do both approx £300 labour and the painters labour cud be the same its hard to give u a ball park figure.
the ball park figure for my accident ie passenger side was £1880 inc vat parts etc in that and to respray the missus saxo retail was in the region of £1400 but i did the strip and fit on that and me mate is painting it for a crate of beer!
so its only cost me £200 hope thats answered ur question

Just had a call from the dealer who is sorting all this out for me with a bit of an update.
Basically the problem is they cannot get a good enough match to the existing colour because all of the panels are much too far out from each other! There are so many shades across the car that they simply cannot get an even look by painting one side of even by using a combination of shades.
I never realised it was quite that bad to be honest. I knew there were some variations, but not that bad!
Anyway, they have decided to spray the entire car from scratch! So I should be picking the car up next Thursday after it has been completely resprayed from scratch Happy Days!
Pretty good result I'd say, even if it does mean I've been without my car for a month!

Thought that might be the case of having a full respray! If they were having as much trouble as you say matching the colour. Just a quick question are they spraying the roof for you aswell? Hope it all looks top sure it will.
I would assume and hope so. When I took it to them before they started all this, they commented on how they can't guarantee to match the roof colour as there is so little next to it to match to. So it's obviously something they take into consideration.

cool I've never had to have a car sprayed but know of people who have and people who do the spraying and when you start talking about spraying the roof you can add 50% to the cost of the respray. Why this is I'm not sure but must mean alot of extra work? Aslong as it comes back in top condition who cares. Also do they spray on the inside of the door's / sills etc? This spraying lark gets more complicated the more you look into it. Sounds like you have considerate people working on the car now so I'm sure they won't send it back to you unless they're 100% happy.
There shouldn't be any need to do the insides as it's a same colour respray. As for the roof, not sure as I said, but if I'm honest even if they don't it's not the end of the world as this isn't costing me a penny
rubbish rubbish rubbish yellow doesn't fade anymore than any other colour, rob they are talk crap to you. Red is the worst colour for fading, white and yellow are the hardest to match. My car was damaged (onvi yellow when it was only 3 months old and had no fading. It spent over 4 months in total at the body shop! I could write all day about this the problem is SEAT there are over 20 paint codes for ovni, none of which matched my car including the official code for the build date. To cut along story short after 3 attempts the body shop used various "technology" to determine the paint mix and it was still wrong. In the end they called in the top bloke from ICI automotive paints who eventually took away a mirror cover from the undamaged side of my car and had to remove some paint break it down in a lab and develop a matching paint. I ended up on fist name terms with the guy who event cam to my house with some samples which still had to be tweaked, i still have his mobile somewhere. I also have the paint samples and codes if anyone ever wants them.

Don't worry ovni doesn;t fade anymore than other colours they are talking sh*te
Don't crash the spanish just mix up any old shade depending on which way the wind is blowing so it's a bugger to match.

Do yourself a favour and do a search through the entire forum - not just the Leon section - for 'Ovni paint fade' and see what crops up!
In fact, I bet you'll find the post I made when I first bought the car and was worried about it looking faded. I asked the question has anybody else had this problem... and numerous Ovni Seat owners replied to say 'yes, it's very common'
