Do you find the plastic bumpers and spoiler keep their true colour much better than the metal bodywork like the doors and arches?

Yup I'd love a Yellow LCR, but if I go the LCR route it'll be grey

i did my mirrors myslef (do body repairs 4 toyota) and i had no problem with the match...
But sometimes it could all be down to the guy spraying the car no matter how "good" the paint is...
But sounds like they a good honest place and instead of giving you a two tone LCR they bothered to try and fix the problem, im sure they will sort it out for you!

Do yourself a favour and do a search through the entire forum - not just the Leon section - for 'Ovni paint fade' and see what crops up!

In fact, I bet you'll find the post I made when I first bought the car and was worried about it looking faded. I asked the question has anybody else had this problem... and numerous Ovni Seat owners replied to say 'yes, it's very common'

Some paint and some colours fade more than others, that's a fact. If you don't take my word for it, take the word of all the other Ovni owners that have experienced the same problem.

You are missing the point:

All paint fades
I had a problem after 3 months when the paint has not had a chance to fade.
Red fades more than all other colours FACT
For your problems to be blamed on paint fade alone is crazy.
The method of wash and detailing or waxing will affect individual fading
Do you really expect me to believe that every panel on your car had faded at a different rate?
Do you really expect me to search before replying to any post, this is a forum to express you thoughts and opinions and that is what i have done.

I knew a guy worked for bentley as a sprayer and once said that they were throwing away panels cuz of the angle or dircection they were being painted at cuz they looked different shades n colours tho it was from the same paint tin.dont think this is the prob with Robs car but your see worse things at sea.

Hello i'm fairly new to the site, i have a ovni yellow cupra 52 plate and have the same problem with the paint and getting the new paint job to blend in with the rest of the car. I had an accident in it and needed a new bonnet, front bumper and front wing along with mechanical stuff, all the new panels that they put on the car look good and have a good finish to them, but where the garage finished the paint job you can really see a difference between the front drivers door and rear door, really does look like two different colours, i tried getting them to do it again but they said they used the correct paint and because none of the other panels matched they washed their hands of it, so i have a two tone cupra, also like people have previously posted the plastic parts look a different colour too, especially under the lights in petrol stations. Looks like i need a full respray to.

Mate i wouldnt have that!!
It sounds like the garage you took it to are a bunch of amateurs!
If THEY cant get a match thats their fault not yours i would get in touch with trading standars!
You shouold get some money back or the car done like it should be. No way i would drive round in a two tone car... imagin the probs you gonna have when it comes to sell it!! no one is going to go anywhere near it if it looks like its had accident damage...
Mate kick off big time and get them to fix it!!!

Yeah i've had the same reply from a few people i work with. I got the car repaired through the insurance but because it wasn't one of their authorised bodyshops they said they won't do anything about it so phoned the bodyshop up and they said that the rest of car was different colours which pissed me off and said that they would only do something about it if i paid them to do it. They blaimed the insurance because they wouldn't let them respray the whole car which you would expect them to say because it was only the front end that needed doing. I got the car back in september last year, is that too long ago now or would it still be worth getting in touch with trading standards? The garage is an approved Seat one so thought it would be pretty good.

I dont know if its "too late" might be worth giving them a ring see what they say...
It shows they talkin bolloks if they cant get a match but if you pay more they will do something about it...wan*ers!
Not what you would expect from a approved garage really but then again nothing surprises me when it comes to SEAT!
Thats sucks mate hope you get it sorted.

... just in case you didn't know... :D

OVNI yellow:

OVNI = Objeto Volante No Identificado = UFO

Do not, I repeat, do not try and replicate an alien colour. Doesn't exist on planet Earth.
End of message.
