Passenger electric window failure

Tried to open the passenger window last night, and was greeting with a few seconds of crunching, whirring and rattling, but no window opening!. Sounds like the motor is ok, but whatever mechanism linking it to the actual window has broken. Anyone had anything similar and aware of the cost of fixing it?

I would also like to understand whether I am likely to have any issues with the window in the mean time (ie. Window collapsing down)?

Hi pazza. I see you're new to the forums, just like me! It had happened to my 05 ibiza fr about 3 months ago. i was able to get in touch with a seat mechanic who does 'homers' and he got me a new motor unit and fitted all for £65. Seat were charging £100 for the motor alone. But you may not even need a new motor if you can still hear it whirring, it may just be some clips that have come loose.

Hope some of this info helps?

the usual failure here is the cable, or where the cable is fixed to the window. These clamps/clips are plastic, on some other VAG models they have updated to metal.

plenty of info on here regarding this.

cost i dont know, i fixed mine myself by getting a whole complete door mechanism of another leon for £15! - im sure they are lot more than this otherwise.. something like £60-80?
